The Offer

Oxygen fintech is offering a referral bonus:
- To start earning, you must open a new Oxygen Deposit Account using a current customer’s referral link. Depending on the referrer’s Element ($10.00 for Water, Air and Fire), you’ll each receive the initial $10 bonus after the referee opens a new account.
- You’ll both receive an additional $100 bonus when the referee receives a qualified payroll direct deposit of $500 or more and the account has at least five debit purchase transactions using the Oxygen Visa Debit Card (including Virtual Card purchases) that have been posted and settled to the account.
- You can earn up to $1,000 in Oxygen referral rewards per 6-month period.

Our Verdict

We’ve reviewed the Oxygen bank account fully in this post which some people find useful for their cashback boosts. I thought it worth a dedicated post for this bonus which can be worth $220 for someone in 2-player mode.

Still gotta do the debit card charges through Amazon too though right not just dd? How long did it take to get bonus?

Just went through someone’s link last night and clicked the referral link and installed the app etc. How do I know if my account is flagged to qualify for the referral now? Since I’m picturing when I click a link on desktop the URL keeps the referral code when I sign up. Here I had to install the app and create the account. Did the referral still link itself through if I’m signing up on phone?

I believe it will only track via app download/sign up.

I had the exact same question, I always get paranoid that the referral won’t track when I have to scan a QR code, download an app, etc. I guess we’ll see!

It worked for me. I opened mine the same way, I started on my pc by clicking a referral link and then scanning the QR Code from my phone, download app, apply, etc. and I recently received the bonus.

Wise posted as direct deposit, but the bonus wasn’t posting. I sent $5xx from Chase Business checking ACH on 6/6…..it arrived 6/7 and $100 bonus posted 6/7. Similar to other DPs, my Amazon reloads were showing as processing for about a week, but once the Chase Business ACH arrived they officially settled.

Hmm, I did Amazon reloads on 5/24 and they still show as “Processing” as of today. That was using the physical card as well. Anyone else experience this?

Yes, mine stayed “processing” for maybe 3 weeks. I still got the bonus, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

4/26/23 – opened account using referral link
4/28/23 – $501 Wise (“payroll”)
5/02/23 – $.50 Amazon reloads x 5 (showed pending almost 3 weeks)
5/18/23 – $501 Employer DD
5/18/23 – $100 BONUS

The Amazon reloads showed pending until the Bonus posted (more than 2 weeks). I noticed the Bonus posted at some point late last month. I didn’t see exact dates until my statement became available for the month. Now I can see the Amazon reloads actually posted to the account 5/3 (the next day) yet showed pending, and the date for the bonus was same day as Employer DD.
So Amazon reloads worked and I assume Wise did NOT, only Employer DD.

It’s likely the Wise transfer then that’s keeping me from getting the bonus. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated!

When does this expire?

No expiration date given. However they have always had a referral program since they opened up shop and this is currently the highest offer.

How do I know if I’m going to qualify for the referral if I only installed the app from someone’s link. As opposed to when we do it on the computer and see it in the URL?

I don’t think you can do it via computer.

SoFi DD worked for me – bonus just cleared. Finished the requirements on May 11. (FWIW I also checked “Recurring” under the Sofi Direct Deposit, in case that somehow tricks their system.)

Interesting how with SoFi fake DD, bonus took longer to post but did post nonetheless. I also think grandfathered Sofi accounts vs. new Sofi accounts opened less than one year when they switched backend banks matters.
