NJ resident near philly, CS biz/pp coded for $9900 purchase (my CL is $10k only)
I opened this account online via a link that popped up on facebook on 5/7/25 with a $100 debit card deposit. I was having trouble linking anything and basically any function I tried to click on through the app (like deposit a check, link an account, etc) said I wasn’t eligible. I called and a rep told me that basically I couldn’t do ANYTHING with the account except use the debit card for the first 30 days. So I waited a few weeks and called again. Of course the next rep said that wasn’t true and walked me through some things over the phone on the desktop site so that I could link external accounts. I pushed $2 from Fidelity last month and that seems to have waived the monthly fee. I have been able to link this account to my Sofi and I pulled $50 today so we’ll see if that causes any issues. I have a real DD next Friday set to go to this account so fingers crossed everything goes through and I don’t have any problems accessing the money since the nearest branch is hours away…
Fidelity CMA did not work for DD.
My worst experience of opening a checking account. Applied online and did not pass identity verification. Went in branch to verify identity. The manager was clueless about the checking bonus. Told me I was too early for the appointment twice while there’s 0 customer in the bank my whole time there. Then she started to ask why I opened so many bank accounts in the past. I told her I was told on the phone that I passed Chex with 3 bank accounts opened in the past year, but she listed bank accounts I opened way back! Then she said she needed to contact the security team about this promotion… OMG I got out of there then and decided in my mind I will never in a million year get a WSFS account.
Is there an offer code needed? Or assuming just hitting “Open Online” is fine?
Online application denied due to Chex. My stats before applying: 1/6, 5/12,10/24. Live a few miles from a branch but not going to bother going in.
I knew that I made the right decision not wasting a Chex inquiry for this offer. 😉
Denied for Chex despite opening a pretty low number of accounts in past year (maybe 5 max?). Live two blocks from a branch.
Will you attempt to open in branch?
How exactly does the CC funding work through PayPal? Looking forward to your replies.
You either select your credit card in PP as your default payment for online purchases or you select your card after you choose PP as the funding option to fund your WSFS account(s).
Thanks for the reply. If I do it the second way, what are the exact steps? Do you have any screenshots?
It’s sometimes not your choice. Some merchants don’t let you choose which card and your default card will get charged after you select to pay with PP. That’s why I recommend that you always set your default card in PP before making the purchase.
No, I don’t have the exact steps or screenshots but it’s not complicated.
Anyone know if the Amex RATs dislike bank account funding? If this is via Paypal that shouldn’t hurt, I know GC spending is a big no-no… I have a $5k Amex Bevy sub I could knock off in one shot with this bonus….
Do I need an offer code for this? If yes can someone post it here, pls.
I don’t see a promo code mentioned in the terms so applying through the link should suffice. Make sure to take print screens though.
