The Offer
- Traditions Bank is offering a $400 bonus when you open a new checking account and complete the following requirements (looks like you need to do for two statement cycles):
- At least 15 posted debit or credit point of sale (POS) purchases using your Traditions Bank debit card
- At least one ACH credit or debit (direct deposit or automatic payment) from your account
- Use of a monthly E-Statement
- A valid email address
The Fine Print
- Offer valid from 12/1/24-1/15/25 and is subject to change without notice.
- Offer does not apply to existing Traditions Bank personal checking account customers, owners, or those with signing authority on any other Traditions Bank personal checking account, or those who closed a Traditions Bank checking account within the last 12 months.
- The $400 bonus is deposited within 60 days of the end of the second statement cycle after opening a new PowerUp Checking account if all Account Qualifications** are met.
- Bonus is considered interest for tax purposes; please consult a tax advisor for details. For personal accounts only.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.
Our Verdict
They are merging with ACNB and they currently have a $400 bonus as well. Unsure if it’s possible to do both.

I tried to close my account via secure message, but was informed that I must visit a branch in person to complete the closure. Has anyone had success in closing their account without an in-person visit, such as via mail or telephone?
12/23/24 – Approved
1/17/25 – Real DD $500
1/15/25 – 1/30/25 – 15 regular debit purchases
2/18/25 – $400 bonus paid
P1 and p2 got $400 bonus on 2/18. Opened 12/20/24.
I did do the 15 debit and DD for the jan 15 closing as well as feb 15 closing.
But, based on other dp’s looks like first month is automatic for everyone irrespective meeting the requirements.
Did you do ACNB one too?
Just saw your message. No, i did not do ACNB
Wow this one paid out quick!!
12/31/24 approved
1/15/25 first statement period closed
1/23 – 1/27 completed 15 debit transactions using Walmart. Scanned various vegetables for $ 0.xx each
1/31 $500 real DD
2/14 $100 real DD
2/17 x10 debit transactions using Walmart.
2/18 $400 bonus
P1
1/6/25 – Opened account
1/15/25 – 1st statement close date
1/17/25 – 1st real DD, $100
1/26-1/28 – 15 Cash App $1.** loads
2/18/25 – $400 bonus posted
Similar for P2 except used Venmo instead of Cash App for the debit transactions and bonus posted today (2/18).
So the terms seem to indicate no direct deposit needed…. I opened the account with $100. I have bill pay ach’s scheduled, and am doing the 15 debit transactions for 2 months….
Seems too good to be true that this will credit $400….
Live in SW PA approximately 200 miles away from nearest branch. Approved 12/31/24 but had to call in today to get online banking activated … was inactive the whole time. Statement period closed 1/15/25. Hopefully can still meet requirements
Hi Amy. Yes I received it within a reasonable time frame.
Approved 1/6/24 and enrolled in online banking with access. Online access then became inactive. I called and was informed online banking isn’t available until 7 days after opening and that I would gain access on 1/14/24 with the same login information used to enroll. I can confirm I now have online banking access.
1st statement date closed 1/15/25. Still waiting on debit card to arrive to complete the 15 debit/credit transactions. Since the 1st statement closed so quickly, I hope I will still be eligible if I complete 15 transactions for this 2nd and 3rd statement cycle, along with one direct deposit for each upcoming statement.
However, the fine print says “The $400 bonus is deposited within 60 days of the end of the second statement cycle after opening a new PowerUp Checking account if all Account Qualifications** are met”. I guess we will see what happens…
I’m in a similar situation as you. I applied 1/15/25, had online access for a few days but now cannot log in my account. I saw the same statement period as 1/15-1/15 but since I opened my account that day, I have no idea if it actually counts as the first statement period or what. Haven’t received my card in the mail yet either but it’s only been a week.
I’m still waiting on my debit card! When I login to online banking and go to manage cards, it is showing the last 4 of a debit card and there’s a link to activate card. P2 opened account on 1/7/25 and same thing. I will probably follow up with them today if it doesn’t come in the mail. Today is 11 business days. I’ve never had a debit card take this long to arrive.
I just called them and my debit card wasn’t ordered until 1/14/25 (account opened 1/6/25). Hopefully will arrive this week…
Thanks for the update! I have been trying to reach customer support via email and the chat on their website but have not heard back from anyone via email and the chat never connects me with anyone. I really didn’t want to have to call them but it looks like I may need to if I don’t hear back soon. I asked questions in my email about how the offer works since I opened it the last day the offer was available and received the eStatement (when I still had access for a few days) and a mailed statement I received yesterday with the statement period showing 1/15-1/15. Hopefully will get some clarification on how to complete the bonus or if I shouldn’t bother at all if I’m somehow ineligible due to my first statement cycle being only a single day.
I am not even doing the direct deposits, as it appears in the language it can be ACH pulls(bill pay)….like I said in my other comment, seems too good to be true….but we will see.
Approved from Harrisburg area. Chex LOL/24.
Originally denied: “We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate your request to open an account with us at this time as your current address is outside of our market area.”
E-mailed back asking why Harrisburg was too far. Also told them I work near a branch.
They told me my passport was tied to an OOS address, which I explained and was then approved.
Was rejected at the bank for living too far from York. My address is in Indiana county. The clerks wouldn’t even send me back to the Account Manager.
