The standard Pepper points will be instantly available and the bonus Pepper points will be awarded on 9/16/24. You can see these deals in your messages tab or notifications tab, and you should see the bonus reflected on the checkout screen. Most of these deals end today, 9/1/24.
The Pepper points system is confusing, so let’s give an example: If you buy $100 in Google Play gift cards, you’ll get 6,000 points instantly which is worth $3 and is the same as 3% back. On September 16th, you’ll get an additional 34,000 points which is worth $17 and is the same as 17% back. Altogether, the 20x back will equate getting 20% back. It’s easier to just avoid thinking about the points totals and focus on the ‘x’ back since that is the same number as the % back you’ll be getting (1x = 1% back; 12x = 12% back).
Our Verdict
Keep in mind that for most of these deals the bonus points won’t be available for a few weeks, and I wouldn’t recommend buying unless you can manage the risk of something going wrong with the bonus points posting a few weeks down the line. I’d recommend screenshotting and copying the gift card info immediately, and I’d also recommend using up the Pepper points quickly, since people have had issues logging in, etc.
Reports are that Amex Business Gold to earn 4x if it’s one of your top two categories. And reports are that it counts as Online Shopping for BofA cards and Blue Cash card and ShopYourWay card. And it counts as Computer Software category for BofA Customized Cash Rewards cards and for 1.5x on the Business Platinum card.
Note: While there is no limit to most of these deals, you might be limited in overall quantities that can be purchased from Pepper in a day. So you might only get $2,000 or some other number until the app stops you. It’s sometimes possible to increase limits by calling in and verifying. And you might be able to buy again the next day as your limits reset.
My thanks if you enter my signup code 584255 during the initial signup process. Those who signup with a referral code get double Pepper points on all purchases for 15 days. (Not clear to me if/how these these bonus deals stack with the signup offer.) No referral links or references in the comments below, please.
Just received my boost for the Google Play GC. I think they overpaid unless I’m misunderstanding how the boosts work. The 20x boost that comes later should exclude the base rate right? I purchased $150 and just received 60k points which would be the full 20x
Any insight on if the giftcards are available right away once you purchase? Or is there a wait time? Thank you in advance.
Right away
I don’t see the 20% offer for me in the Pepper app. Is this regional?
bro costco also sells 20% off on a lot of gift card like uber why do people act like they are giving it away for free ? its 5% mostly on this site and 20% on holidays like today
Anyone know if the CVS gift cards can be scanned? I hate the awkward moment when the digital gift cards don’t have a scannable barcode and they have to type it in.
Yes they can be scanned but you need to go to a regular checkout (not self checkout)
20% on Google play? That’s crazy. You can make a lot of money by utilizing Swagbucks games that pay you 1:1 (or better) for purchases. You also can use it for Google One purchases, or YouTube TV or YouTube premium.
Edit: actually, you might as well just sell them on GCX. You buy $100, you’ll get $20 in pepper rewards making it $80, you’ll also get the credit card points. Sell the card on GCX with a 5% discount (which should be sufficient to attract the sale) and you’ll come out with $80.75.
-$100 purchase
+$20 rewards
+$3 credit card cash back
+$80.75 GCX
=============
$3.75 profit with cash back
or
$0.75 profit with 300 miles to transfer (AMEX to Delta, for example)
How can they afford rewards like this?
These offers have been incredible. I just bought $500 worth of Google Play. I can use that balance to pay for my YouTubeTV.
How do you spend your Pepper rewards points?
You cant pay fr Google TV with a Google Play card. I just found that out tonight.
I dont understand this business model. Even for Raise (what used to be Slide), what is the end model here? (Putting aside the extra discounts for customer acquisition)
I am guessing Raise makes money on the differential when people sell them their gift cards to sell on Raise Marketplace.
