Last October we let you know that British Airways would be increasing the cost of short haul (sub 650 miles) award flights that originate or terminate in the United States. These currently cost 4,500 Avios, but on February 2nd (10GMT) these flights will cost 7,500 Avios for economy. A 3,000 point increase might not sound like a lot, but it’s a 60% increase.
The price increase is based on when you book, rather than when your flight is. So if you’re planning on making any short haul flights that originate or terminate in the US, I’d book now rather than later.
