The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Publix is offering $10 off a gas gift card of $50 or more when you spend $50 or more on groceries.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid January 30, 2019 to February 5, 2019.

Our Verdict

This is a physical coupon, so deal can be done multiple times although you can only do the deal once per transaction. As always make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

“GC galore” reminds me of James bond and “PC galore”.

This is a common deal. Many stores in Florida don’t limit you to 1 card per purchase. They’ll sell you as many as you have multiples of $50 expenditures. Our

+1 If I buy $100 in groceries Publix has always allowed me to get 2 gas cards.

Unrelated, if you’re in GNV it’s nice to see another 352 member!

I’m in the 352 as well. Love this site!

This is Publix regular deal that at least once a month but often every 3 weeks. The coupon is in the weekly ad flyers at the display shelves by the entrance. You can buy as many cards as you want as long as it is one $10 off per each $50 grocery bought.
Grocery store chains in NE and MidWest states have far better deal on the fuel points.

The coupon offered by my Publix (Tampa Bay region) is only good Thursday through Sunday. Interesting that it’s different days in different markets.

As others have mentioned, this is a regular deal at Publix (probably happens once a month). . I’ve also never been asked to provide a physical coupon. Awesome deal though, we constantly have gas gift cards from shopping there all the time.

This is offered every other week in South Florida, although it’s Thursday-Sunday down here. If you don’t have the coupon the check out person can usually get one for you.

Correct. Always Thursday to Sunday virtually every 2 to 3 weeks. Used to be once a month but the past few months it is more frequently offered.
We only do the deal when there are enough good priced items in the weekly ad such as this week’s with the $1.99/lb St. Louis spare rib, Planters BOGO, Quaker Oats BOGO, etc. the $50 spend is easier to do.
There are many times we dont do the deal because there are hardly anything we use is on sale in that week’s weekly ad.
I think customers learn as well. In the past the gas gift cards would fly off the shelf but now they are aplenty even you come in the last day of promo, i.e. Sunday.

Thanks for posting. I used to try to get to $50 groc and coupon it at the same time. Takes so much time and the line would back up. Don’t bother anymore although I would say with it being SB weekend and peeps putting together game plan snacks, this is a good time to “go for the goal”.
I like the GC promo that stands on its own with the digital coupon. But, not featured right now at Publix.

I’m in Florida too and do shop at Publix but haven’t done this deal yet. I get Shell fuel perks from Winn Dixie (Using Discover 5% grocery category)and the receipt almost always has multipliers to use the next time you shop. Also stacking with Freedom 5% gas category now.

The $10 off $50 is a TWENTY PERCENT discount. Unless you get shell fuel points to reduce the $ amount by that much, else the Publix every other week deal should beat the 5% from either Freedom or Discover.

Also if you are IHG member you get the 5cent or 6cent off from Shell’s Fuel Perk regardless how much you spent.

Without the discount Shell is generally slightly more expensive than Chevron, Exxon and WaWa in our area.

Winn Dixie basically has dwindled to may be no more than 3 to 4 stores in the whole county in South Florida. The lone Safeway which was one of the three in the Whole Florida was bought out by Publix last Sept even the store is just across street from a Publix. Basically Publix has driven out all the traditional chain grocery stores in our area over the years.

One type of stores Publix still cannot win out is the small chains that cater to the Caribbeans and Hispanics. In fact these stores take customers from Publix because their produces are so much cheaper.

can i buy a $500 visa gift card and get the gas card, in actual practice?

Michael

I dunno… I’ve bought a Publix GC and it’s qualified towards the $50. And I’ve used a VGC to PAY for the groceries (and gas card, too)… But whether the $500 GC purchase counts… I don’t know. Go be the data point you want to see!

Ren

@Michael: Can you clarify?: You bought a $50 Publix Gift card as the $50 Grocery minimum? So, one $50 Gas gift card + one $50 Publix gift card and use one $10 off coupon get all for $90?

Not happening in my area this week (TN) so YMMV. Plugged in my old south florida zip (33063) and its not happening down there either.

True, nothing in FL.

ALERT !!

We purchased four(4) ExxonMobil $50 cards over two days at Publix. A while later trying to use the card, the message Please see cashier displayed on pump. Card had zero balance. When checking with Publix, we found out via manager at store that card had been used up 50 miles from our nearest Mobil station. Same with the other 3 cards. Publix said this was common and returned our money.

We left wondering how many have lost all or some of their “savings” with these cards.

If Publix would not have believed us to be truthful, how would we even have proved that we did not make any purchases on cards ?

You can save $10 by going to another store. Only time there may be a deal is when items needed is BOGO. Lol

DS
DS

Very true! I *ONLY* buy BOGO’s at Publix. Even then it may not be worth it unless you have a coupon to stack on. Their prices are outrageous. Much cheaper to shop ALDI, Dollar General and Dollar Tree

Offer good only at your Publix locations in North Carolina and Virginia; Greene County in Tennessee; and Lancaster, York, Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties in South Carolina.

Not in this area of FL, near me. Not in the paper ad.

Could you buy two of their $25-$30 frying pans and get the gas card, then return the frying pans a couple days later?
