The Offer

Direct Link to offer (contains our affiliate)

  • Raise is offering 5% off sitewide with promo code PLAY

Raise.com is a second-hand exchange selling discounted gift cards. This 5% will stack on top of whatever discount is already showing on the site.

  • Max $10 discount
  • One-time use

Our Verdict

These come around frequently, I wonder how the fee increase for small sellers will affect rates. I guess it won’t make much difference as most inventory is probably from bulk sellers anyway. Try using a shopping portal on the purchase; keep in mind the lifetime limits though. Use the mobile app with Paypal payment to get 5x with the Freedom card this quarter (website doesn’t accept Paypal, but app does).

If you buy a gift card from link, they are getting money off everybody. I would go to site without their link.

I wonder if some of the bulk resellers just buy the discounted gift cards from Costco and sell them on Raise.

Lucille’s – 25% off at Costco, 13.5% off at Raise
Coffee Bean – 25% off at Costco, 16.7% off at Raise
Krispy Kreme – 25% off at Costco, 19.5% off at Raise
Buca – 30% off at Costco, 25% off at Raise
Cold Stone – 30% off at Costco, 28% off at Raise

At this point I only buy discounted gift cards I can’t purchase from Costco for 25-30% off, Citi Easy Deals for 10% off, or Ebay/PPDG for 10-20% off.

I think Raise is great, but it may have peaked in popularity/critical mass. Only so much of the populous is going to pay with a gift card. I don’t think the stigma of paying with a gift card will ever totally go away, mainly because of the potential embarrassment of having one denied at point of sale. And of course the eye rolls that come from restaurants/retailers when you buy hundreds of dollars worth of gc’s.

Not trying to hate on anybody, Again this is coming from somebody who uses them a lot and sells some too. Just have noticed these changes the past couple years.

Paypal payment option seems to have dissapeared– Oh never mind just reread your post. Guess it disappeared from website only but not gonna bother with the app now. They seem to reduce their selling discounts when they have these sales

Thank you DOC. I was able to stack this with 5 BA Avios points cashback. So, effectively 15% discount on $200 Uber gift cards. – 5% through cashback portal, 5% for promo code, 3% on Credit Card, 2% Raise.com discount for Uber card.
