Just wanted clarification on this. If I’m not mistaken, this promotion earns you Rakuten Super Points, not Amex MR points or other cashback that’s payable via PayPal, and you can use those points on other purchases in the future? For these purchases, do you also earn Rakuten cashback?

yes you are correct. you earn Rakuten points towards purchasing other products from Rakuten

There was something in the news recently about Rakuten adding the ability to convert points to bitcoin. But I don’t know if that’s talking about the same type of points, or if it’s only for people in Japan, etc. (Rakuten using the same name for a bunch of different things is too confusing for me to keep track of.)

Agreed, and the whole name conversion from Ebates to Rakuten has only added to the confusion to the brand.

The extra 10% in Rakuten Super points is limited to 15,000 pts. My interpretation is that any cumulative spend over $1500 will not earn the extra 10% in points.
