Award Maximizer doesn’t seem as accurate as awardhacker https://www.awardhacker.com/

Did a simple search for a short hop within US, AM listed a Alaska air for 7.5k points, which is nowhere to be found on alaska website.

“Short hops” as you say on Alaska Airlines start at 5,000 miles one way and increase based in distance. This is on their website. The tool is designed to look at the distance between the cities you enter and return the correct starting price.

It’s not clear what you mean by saying this is nowhere to be found on the Alaska website. When space is limited, awards can be higher. Or maybe you looked for a city that Alaska doesn’t serve. I’m pretty clear that the Award Maximizer isn’t designed to track award availability or which cities an airline serves (since that changes often).
