- Free Breakfast Returns to Hyatt Place Properties Testing a Pay-To-Eat Approach by Mommy Points. Fingers crossed it stays this way.
- Barclays Mulls Bank Deals Including With Standard Chartered by PYMNTS. No immediate impact for us, just something to keep in mind.
- PayPal starts deeper integration with Google; users can now pay directly in Gmail, YouTube and more by TechCrunch. Surprised by this, really thought Google was just going to push GPay more and more. Didn’t see this integration coming, I wonder what PayPal had to give up.
- Warning: Ebates Is Freezing Accounts & Clawing Back Office Depot In-Store Cashback for Visa Gift Cards by Miles to Memories. Clawing back I can understand, shutting down accounts is a bit much. Especially if people made co-mingled purchases (e.g not just Visa cards).
Deals expiring at the end of today (view the full deal calendar here):
- Chase United Cardholders: 30% Bonus On Miles Earned With Partners (MPX, Shopping Portal, Dining & More)
- [Targeted & CT, DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, WV] M&T Bank $300 Checking Bonus – Direct Deposit Not Required
- eBay: 15% Off With Promo Code PMEMDAY [5/21-5/25, Select Sellers Only]

Didn’t see this thread before. Otherwise i would have delinked my cards from ebate. I just noticed i couldn’t log in to my account last week and after several email inquiries they finally told me they ended my membership due to several ineligible purchases. I thought it’s up to them to decide if they want to give me the cash back or not. If ineligible then take off whatever the ineligible amount is, why have to shut down my account? The only explanation i can think of is that i have accumulated over $300 in my account and the cash out time is coming (feb 9). They are doing this to get out of the payment- most of my cash back are legitimate purchases. The giftcard purchases at OD were just from the Christmas holiday period. I don’t know if filing a BBB complaint would halp on this case.
My account was closed as well, it was actually my dad’s but I used it. I hadn’t purchased much at all this year. But it was surprising.
Ebates is hypersensitive to cash rebates on GC purchases. I had about $200-$300 pending in my Ebates form GC purchases at OD and Ebate shut down my account and clawed back all the cash back. After sending serveral emails and phone calls Ebates reopened my account with a email warning not purchase GCs.
Just tried to sign in and this ominous message appeared: “Your account is currently unavailable. Please Contact Member Services for assistance.” Not a good sign.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Did you or anyone else have issues with eBates claw backs or account shut downs?
Only 1 transaction out of about 2 dozen while linked actually tracked if they want to claw it back they can. I guess it was better not to be getting them all tracked 🙂
my ebates not able to log in, only made 120$, now lost those plus some $20 legit balance/credit there, too bad. i am going to sign up anew acct later
I thought the title said Ebates Shuts Down not Ebates Shut Downs and was scared for a second.
Me too! And this is right after they recently gave 10% cash back at some stores. Ebates is my go to site. Scared me too.
Let me reword it a little.
