Hopefully the Spirit guy learned his lesson: if you want to commit fraud, you should be a corporation. In that case, the same thing would have landed him a $50 fine instead of a 2 1/2 year jail time.

Look at Boeing, Takata, GM, all the big banks, and the big tech – in some cases, their “mistakes” literally killed people but it’s business as usual. So don’t be dumb, if you’re an individual, anything you do will be a wire fraud and a mail fraud; if you’re a corporation, you can kill people, then file for bankruptcy and no federal or state attorney will touch you.

Guess I was the only one who liked Pantry. RIP.

They should have sentenced him to 30 months of flying on Spirit. Of course, that might not stand up to the 8th Amendment.

Kinda surprised its took this long for Prime Pantry to die… it was terrible.

only time it was useful when they would offer a special discount on prime day which you could stack with no-rush credits. otherwise overpriced. maybe useful for the people in remote alaska who have to pay $10 for a small can of tomatoes otherwise.

I guess for the spirit story, free isn’t really free

stories behind paywalls aren’t that useful, unless i’m missing the obvious way around them?

The subtitle was all I needed to read. Seeing that headline on a blog like DoC, I assumed it would be referring to some sort of serious benefits scheming, intended cancellations on a massive scale, or something like that.

Knowing he made and sold fake airline-employee ID cards is something different entirely.

Yea, clever title on behalf of their clickbait (marketing) team. If the title said ‘man gets jailed for selling fake id’s’, the click rate would be atrocious.
