Obviously I’ve been doing something wrong all these years but I assumed they had some measures to prevent sharing and never considered it. I wonder if this publicity will just make it worse? We just flip between streaming offers so we haven’t had Netflix for months with HBO, Disney, various Amazon promos recently. Funny thing is that they seem to make little to no effort to entice us back.

The selection on Netflix has gotten progressively worse over time. I almost never find movies I’m looking for on there anymore. Meanwhile they continue to jack up prices. Pretty terrible service. I will not buy the stock

Netflix already limits the number of streams per account which should be sufficient enough.

Not fair! My sister pays good money for her Netflix account, and she’s part of my ‘family’!

So, can everyone in your family share an acct? LOL. You can share passwords if the person lives with you.

And, I don’t know if you were being sarcastic, but I love that you’re up in arms about how much your sister pays for you to use the service. 🤣

I don’t know how I feel about Netflix cracking down on the password sharing. A few people use my account and I don’t cancel it precisely because those people use my account. If I had the account just to myself I would close and open it all the time depending on whether new TV shows I like appear there. And those people I share with are unlikely to get their own accounts.

“a report from research firm Magrid once found that 35 percent of millennials share passwords for streaming.”

Another 35% were smart enough to lie…

So you think only 70% of millennials share streaming passwords? A bit low in my estimation

Yeah sometimes you take a survey and go….do I want to cop to this?

Have just gone through the process. Amex doesn’t allow transfer.

Netflix has to make money at some point…

They reported a $500 million profit for Q4 2020. Not saying they made money, but their accountants made it look like they did for a nice stock bump. Same games that Amazon and Apple have played exquisitely for years.

I would be dumping them if I was paying for it. All these streaming services need to be on rotation because after a couple months I’m staring at a whole screenful of things I don’t want to watch.

Accountants can’t just make it look like the company made money… There are specific and rather strict rules for the calculations. EPS can be somewhat manipulated and there’s an issue of earnings management but not to this extent.
