Referral Bonus $50
Note: One reader mentioned that on the refer website that this referral bonus does not stack with the $300 promotion. Can anybody confirm?
There is also a referral bonus you can receive in addition to this $300 bonus (bringing the total to $350). You need to mention the full name and e-mail address of the person who refers you to get this bonus (they’ll also receive a $50 bonus). Thanks to reader Vijay for mentioning this, you should consider using his information so you both get an extra $50:
- Name:Â VIJAYARAGHAVAN NATARAJAN
- E-mail:Â [email protected]
Our Verdict
In the past Regions bank have offered a $165 bonus with the same requirements, although it was open to more areas (this offer has since expired). I recommended that bonus because it ticked all of the right boxes (e.g soft pull, easy to meet requirements and you can also fund a little with a credit card) and this one is even better because the bonus is almost double.
Unfortunately I don’t live within the target area, otherwise I would have jumped at this deal. If you plan to complete this deal, here’s what I do:
- Open a lifegreen checking account, using a credit card with it’s cash advance limit set to $0 to fund $1,000
- Open a free savings account, using the same credit card to fund it initially for another $1,000
- Transfer the $1,000 from the savings account to the checking account, this will give me a monthly balance of $2,000 (this is more than $1,500 required to waive the monthly fee)
- Make 10 card purchases (here are some ideas on how to easily and cheaply fulfill this requirement)
- Make an ACH transfer of $500+ from an existing account to trigger the direct deposit requirement (if it’s easy to change your payroll I’d recommend doing this instead – it’s important to note that only your payroll and government benefits officially count when it comes to the fine print. In reality any ACH has worked in the past)
- Wait 120 days for the bonus to post, if it doesn’t post contact customer service
- Wait another 60 days (a total of 180 days from account opening) to close the account and avoid any early account termination fee
In total you’d make $300 and whatever credit card points you earned on the $2,000 in funding. I haven’t added this to our list of the best bank bonuses, because it’s geographically restricted but if you live within the area then it’s definitely one of the best deals out there. You can view a full list of all current checking bonuses by going here.

Looks like bonus is completely dead, if anybody finds working links let me know.
The $200 bonus is definitely still live (currently through Dec 15). Pops up immediately when searching Google for Regions $200: http://info.regions.com/regions/15/hhg/cashoffer/campaignlp/en/index.html?promo=OAO235
Actually got my $50 referral GC yesterday. Totally didn’t expect it since I filled out the form *after* opening the account, so that was a special bonus.
Did this a few months back. Bonus is $200 right now.
One important thing to note about the referral bonus is that there is maximum of 10 bonuses per person a year. ViJay,do you know how many you have received so far? They must send them out once a quarter or something because mine came all at once even though accounts were opened over a few weeks.
Just a datapoint. ACH push from Discover Bank worked for DD requirement.
Carl,
I just responded to your email. Looks like your email went in to spam folder for some reason.
Vijay
This post needs to be updated to clarify that the $300 bonus is now $200 and most importantly that the user needs to be referred IN ADVANCE, providing the referrer with name, email, physical address, and phone. Once referred, a user will get a separate email with instructions on opening the account. There is no option to provide the referrer’s info otherwise.
One question: when funding via credit card, when do the funds appear? Although the charges appear to have been processed, and I’ve received email from Regions indicating funding happened and all is well, there’s no indication in the accounts themselves of any pending deposits. Thanks much!
I actually don’t see the offer at all anymore, got a working link for us for the $200 bonus?

The referrer listed here does not appear to respond to email, so I guess it’s best this info be removed altogether. Wish I’d had the correct info as I could’ve at least gotten my parents to refer me!
I also received my answer about the funding. The amounts appeared in my account and the current balance updated at the end of the business day.
Carl,
Are you referring to me? I am responding to all the emails I am receiving from DOC users.
Vijay
I’ve never received a response.
Opened mines on June 19 and still no bonus. I hit the requirements in the first 2 weeks the account was opened. I’m giving it another 2 weeks. Will close out my account and taking my business to another bank.
Update: Received the $300 bonus 8/28! Again, I did $500+ transfers from Serve, Paypal, capital one 360, and ally. I wish I could help better pinpoint which triggered the DD requirement, but happy I received the bonus regardless. Hope this helps others! I will also be happy to refer anyone (I successfully received the referral bonus as well – totaling $350 for the bonus!) Email me @ [email protected] for referral code.
Got bonus. For the future, the bank bonuses with Regions are churnable!
Received the $300 bonus today, DD was an ACH from Wells Fargo.
Received it today too. Opened on 6/20, completed requirements around 7/17 with employer DD, $0.30 Google Wallet transfers, & $0.50 Amazon GC.
Nobody has mentioned this, but I did not receive the debit card required to make those purchases on account opening and had to request them online.
Yeah. I tried to open up an account today, but the promo code has expired. It looks like the deal is dead.
