Ryanair has launched ‘Ryanair Choice‘, this is being described as a frequent flyer program by some media outlets but in reality it’s a paid annual subscription that offers benefits. For €/£199 annually members will receive the following benefits:
- Assigned standard seating
- Fast-track airport access
- Priority boarding
- 10kg checked bag
If you paid for all of these extras you’d need to take seven flights within a year to get your money back. Obviously most people don’t pay for all of these extras when flying Ryanair. I can’t see this being good value for anybody reading this blog, but I guess if you lived in Europe and took a lot of Ryanair flights and needed the checked bag or other benefits on a frequent basis then this could make sense.
Hat tip to Running With Miles
Seems to be reaction to their competitor easyJet, who is offering exactly the same for exactly the same bad price – https://plus.easyjet.com/
Only has value for really frequent flyer on some of Ryanair/easyJet flights.
There is much better value in their other competitor’s membership – WizzAir, which pays of after 1 return trip for 2 persons – https://wizzair.com/en-gb/information-and-services/wizz-services/wizz-discount-club#/
Without earning any points, miles or much of anything I think this is classifies more as “admission” than membership.
