Samsung Pay & Visa Checkout Partner

Samsung Pay has partnered with Visa checkout to allow users to checkout online.  This partnership was first talked about back in March, but it seems like it’s finally live. The big question is if these transactions will be eligible for Samsung Pay rewards? Update: according to this comment it does work. If so, it seems a fairly good way to be able to get credit card rewards and Samsung Pay rewards on all Visa checkout purchases. There doesn’t look to be any bonus currently for linking your accounts, but I wonder if they will offer one in the future? If it doesn’t earn Samsung Pay rewards and there is no bonus, then this is pretty pointless.

DP:

I used Samsung Pay via Visa Checkout on Newegg.com and Costco.com from my Galaxy S6. To double check, the transactions do show up in my card’s transaction history in Samsung Pay (which also states it only shows transactions made via Samsung Pay, unlike cards from other banks which will show all transactions made on the card, regardless of whether Samsung Pay was used).

However, it did NOT code as 3x for mobile wallet purchases. Disappointing.

Is anyone else able to confirm this? I was hoping to pay my 2071 ES taxes via this method, but not worth it, if it doesn’t code properly. I spoke to a CSR and was told visa checkout through samsung pay should code 3x, but they have no way to confirm if a test visa checkout transaction I made did indeed code as 3x or not

One benefit is to US Bank Altitude Reserve cardholders who might get 3% on online purchases now.

Why? They both get 3x, but AT&T has a considerably lower fee. Also, Citi has some of the best insurance benefits. US Bank is definitely lagging in this regard.

Got the offer in the Samsung Pay app but it wouldn’t let me link an existing Visa Checkout account.

yes…it is using the email id used for samsung account and linked the visa accounts alone to visa checkout.

its been live for past 10 days. And yes , we get rewards points for online purchases too. I already tried to buy 5$ walmart gift cards with samsung default browser and visa checkout works great and we get points.

Question is what are the browsers it supports ? and i am not sure how many retailers has enabled visa checkout in their mobile site and mobile apps. And also not sure whether it will works in windows laptop browsers or not.

Staples hasnt enabled in mobile browsers

Also , it is allowing to use only the existing samsung.com email id for visa checkout login. It added only my visa cards to visa checkout. I am not able to use other network cards

You can only use VISA cards with VISA checkout? No way! People are going to be posting why they can’t use Samsung Pay on their iPhones next. lol

you can add any type of credit card to visa checkout. Not sure about SPay + VCO though.

I tried briefly last night with my USB Altitude (basically will be 3x on all VCO stores) and it kept giving me an error

I have my Sam’s Club MasterCard linked to Visa Checkout, so it’s not limited to just Visa cards (at least not on the desktop site).
