The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Southwest is offering cardholders 50x points per $1 spent up to $100 in spend made directly with Southwest AirlinesĀ®, including flight, inflight, SouthwestĀ® gift card, Rapid Rewards Points Center, and on Southwest VacationsĀ® packages (“Qualifying Purchases”).

The Fine Print

  • During the one-day promotional period of 6/11/2021 from 12:00:00 AM ET ā€“ 11:59 PM E.T., you will qualify and earn a total of 50 points for each $1 spent with any Rapid Rewards Credit Card, on up to $100.00 in total purchases, made directly with Southwest AirlinesĀ®, including flight, inflight, SouthwestĀ® gift card, Rapid Rewards Points Center, and on Southwest VacationsĀ® packages (“Qualifying Purchases”).
  • That’s 48 bonus points on top of the 2 points already earned on Qualifying Purchases made with the Rapid Rewards Priority, Premier, Plus or Employee Credit Cards or 47 bonus points on top of the 3 points already earned on Qualifying Purchases made with a Rapid Rewards Performance Business Credit Card or 49 bonus points made with any remaining Rapid Rewards Credit Cards.
  • Qualifying Purchases made on a qualifying Rapid Rewards Credit Card during the Promotion Period are eligible for this offer.
  • Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period.
  • You’ll earn points on Qualifying Purchases made with your Rapid RewardsĀ® Credit Card by you or an authorized user of the account.
  • The bonus points will count towards Companion Pass but will not count towards A-List or A-List Preferred qualification.
  • Please allow up to 8 weeks after the end of the Promotion Period for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account.
  • To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
  • This bonus offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account of the primary Cardmember referenced in this offer.
  • All Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Cards are eligible.

Our Verdict

50x points back on gift cards seems like a good deal (or flights), shame it’s only up to $100 in spend.

My statement closed and I haven’t seen the 5,000 bonus point offer attached.
I bought a $103 flight on 6/11.
Has anyone received your points?

I’m dumb. I won’t be awarded the points until after I fly, I think. I should have purchased a gift card. Ugh.

Just want to confirm that this did indeed stack with the other two chase spending offers. Received 5700 points for the $100 GC. 2x base points, +48x for one day special, +3x promo ending june (this was 5x everywhere), +4x promo ending in august (6x total on southwest, 5x on gas/travel). Nice haul. I have so much travel credit (please bring back points conversion promo) I listed the GC for $87.

How did you get the points so fast? Did your cc statement close already?

Took advantage of this with gift cards on my Premier Business and Priority. Thanks DoC!

I don’t see anything stating digital wallet transactions are excluded. I can’t locate my physical cards but am able to purchase via Apple Pay using the SWA app (You can add cards to Apple Pay via the Chase app.). Planing to find a $100 fare and refund as a hold for future use as a workaround to not being able to buy a gift card via Apple Pay.

I’m getting the “We are unable to process your transaction using the credit card provided” error… not sure what’s going on. I got the email and all.

Never mind, guess I had the old info for the card stored – added again manually and it was fine.

This happened to me as well, it just asked for my CVV but I didn’t know it had an older exp date stored from before they replaced my card with tap version.

For convenience, here is the link to the gift card.
https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html
Just fill it out with 100 and use your email for delivery for no shipping fees. To be clear, or if you are neurotic like me, you don’t need to activate any reward in chase.

Once you buy a GC, can you add it to a SW balance, or do you have to hang on to it and use it like a card on your next booking?

can’t; use for next booking

Would I still get the bonus points if southwest refunds me for part of this purchase? I get a $75 annual credit for southwest purchase on my card so Iā€™m going to be refunded for part of this. Do we know if those refunded dollars still count towards this?

I don’t think the credit qualifies as a “refund” per se – when I get credited for on travel purchases on CSR the points don’t get deducted

Is there some kind of shipping charge on the GC? If so, is it better to try and find a $100 (or close to it) ticket to book/cancel so as to have the $100 travel funds without the shipping charge?

2.95 for physical card, free for digital (email) delivery. You don’t lose anything by going over. 102.95 should give you 5004 or 5006 points. Not sure how the rounding works.

Does anyone know how quickly these points will credit? My assumption is at the end of your cc’s billing cycle but I’m not sure.

That would be my guess as well.
