[Expired] Staples: No Purchase Fee On $200 Visa Gift Cards (11/3-11/16)

Deal has expired, view more Staples deals by clicking here.

11/10/19: Just a reminder that this deal continues for this week, through the 16th.

The Offer

Direct link to offer  (“see upcoming ad” page  11)

  • Staples is offering no purchase fees on $200 Visa gift cards at Staples stores.

The Fine Print

  • Valid November 3rd till November 16th
  • Limit one per customer

Our Verdict

Weird that the promo period is two weeks, I suspect that might be a mistake if I’m being honest. Use a card that earns at a high rate on office supply stores. There is also an amex offer for 35% back at office supply stores.

I was able to buy 2 at my local store tonight. Cashier didn’t seem to care. I was thinking of buying one and splitting payment between my Chase and BofA cards (since I had the 20% up to $13 offer on both) but I figured it was easier to just buy 2.

Has anyone had any issues w/ making a purchase then returning it with the card? I made a purchase and returned something and got a receipt for the credit being issued back to the card but when I check my balance online it’s showing its a purchase rather than credit. Available balance shows the credit but the balance shows $0. This was from 5 days ago. I had another return in the same transaction to a diff visa gc and that went through without any issues.

I just got 20% offers for Staples on my Chase and Bank of America cards, up to a max of $13 on each. They were not there yesterday. Too bad I only got it on one Chase card since I have a Samsung phone and can get 5% back from Chase Pay.

I had 10% offers that expired on Sunday but I never used.

Awesome, I think my purpose for buying these are different than most.. I get work commissions applied to a card which only works at certain stores such as Staples.. only way to extract the cash value to use elsewhere is buying gift cards such as this so thanks!

Anyone have tips on purchasing more than one at a time? There is one manager at my local store that strictly enforces the policy.  The only way I can think of purchasing multiple cards in one visit is creating employee cards for my 2, 4 and 6 year old ‘business partners.

These are happening so often and credit card protections have been so reduced I’m beginning to feel that the baseline percent for opportunity cost should be 5%.

They did a MC deal in September and two Visa deals in October. Guess you missed out.

What’s the best way to liquidate these? Can I use at Plastiq and pay 1% fee?

I have 2 points per dollar offer on my new Amex Green card for staples, will it work for min spend requirement?

I would not use Amex to buy gift cards for minimum spend, especially at Staples with L3 data.
