[Expired] Swagbucks: $70 Back On Sirius XM Subscription (Money Maker)

Update 6/28/19: They are now offering 7,000 Swagbucks instead of 5,000. Hat tip to reader Tim

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Swagbucks is offering a 7,000 Swagbucks ($70) when you sign up for a monthly subscription to Sirius XM.

The Fine Print

  • SB will appear as Pending for 32 days.
  • Must be a new Sirius subscriber to earn SB.
  • The following subscriptions are not eligible for SB: Select Plus SXIR, SXIR 1 month subscription, Basic 1 month subscription, Select 5 month subscription for $25, Select 5 month subscription for $25 + SXIR 1 month, News Spots Talk, NavTraffic, Voyager All Access Family Friendly, Aviaitor 1 month subscription, Pilot Preferred 1 month subscription, Premier 1 month subscription, Select Annual, half off 1 year subscription and Amazon 3 month streaming subscriptions.

Our Verdict

Same deal is available via Slickdeals rebate, up to you if you prefer Swaggbucks or Slickdeals. The $50 back on these offers is for signing up for the $8/month plan, so it should be a $42 moneymaker, or $34 moneymaker if you want to play it safe and wait for the Swagbucks to actually post before cancelling.

However, when you click through the Slickdeals or Swagbucks links, it shows an introductory rate of $1 for the first 3 months which renews at $8/month (there aren’t any other options there). It looks like signing up for the $1 plan gets you $50, resulting in a $49 moneymaker. (Update: I see incognito the $8 offer. A lot of us are seeing the $1 offer showing. I’m unsure if using the $1 offer will mess up the portal tracking.)

Note: There are conflicting data points in the comments of the other post about whether it’s easy or difficult to cancel a Sirius subscription. And, of course, bear in mind that there’s always a chance something won’t track properly with Swagbucks.

If you’re new to Swagbucks then please read our review. You can get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.

Didn’t go instantly pending for me and not seeing any $1 for 3 months. Did an $8 monthly subscription, do not look forward to fighting for this.

I think it said allow 7 days for it to show as pending.

It actually went pending early this morning.

Dan - Legal Bank Robber Had you subscribed to Sirius before? I am trying to figure out exactly what “new Sirius subscriber” in the terms means.

I have, just used a new email.

Dan - Legal Bank Robber Thank you. That’s a useful DP.

FWIW I used the same email as my previous sirious accounts and I still received the SB.

I do a 6mo promo offer practically every year I had last cancelled about 8 months before the SB offer.

Anybody use shopsafe for the required amount?

I usually don’t have problems with it tracking right away and did this time. Saved screen shots and did the $8 offer.

Completed the deal on Swagbucks, and see SB already as pending (including an email notification of my purchase at SiriusXM)… 🙂

Did you subscribe for 1$or 8$

Clicked on the Swagbucks offer of ‘$8 outside your car’ coupon.

Final amount after signing up on Sirius website was $7.99 + $0.70 taxes/fees.

Hope that helps… 🙂

Jay Are you a “new” Sirius subscriber, as stated in the T&C? We just cancelled Sirius a couple of weeks ago in our car radio, so I am concerned this will not work for us.

Ann
Ann

Well, you would be a new “outside the car” (online access) subscriber.

RM
RM

That’s the question. Does “new” mean new to Sirius, or new to the type of plan one is buying.

A data point on cancellation. I recently canceled a sirius xm subscription via online chat. The agent tried to offer some retention deals but I insisted on canceling. It hardly took 5 mins to cancel. The cancellation is effective immediately and pro-rated remaining credit gets added to your account. I am in CA if it matters.

You can request a refund of that pro-rated amount to your cc.

This. I just did it last week.

The Cali part is the most important bc of their subscription law. I was able to cancel in 5 mins via chat after changing my address.

Any reason to do this deal with SB instead of SD?

SW
SW

SB will discount gift cards, SD is just the rebate.

After signing up with a spoofed email (gmail trick with a period), I didn’t get any kind of notification that I had signed up for an account. I see the charge pending on my cc though. Does Sirius usually take a while to confirm your purchase?

i just got done with a 6 month subscription and earned the $40 swagbucks back in november 2018 for this similar offer. i haven’t had service for a month now so would i be considered a new customer? and earn the $50 swagbucks

I don’t know what Sirius considers “new,” but I did a Sirius deal through Swagbucks in December, and when I go to the Swagbucks page now it says “You have already completed this offer!” So, if Swagbucks does not say that to you, you may have a shot.

nina

To be safe I did the $8 deal, however I’m not receiving any confirmation from Sirius (which is weird, how can they not provide a receipt?), nor Swagbucks pending SB.

Does anyone know when can I cancel the subscription without losing the 5000SBs?

Sergey

Isn’t it a $34 moneymaker considering that you should have the service active for 32 days which translates into two monthly fees?

A M
A M

They’ll appear as pending for that long but it doesn’t mean you have to keep the subscription past the one you signed up for. At least that’s how I read it. SB is usually very specific in its terms about keeping subscriptions and not canceling being a requirement

DP. My wife did the Swagbucks deal in December on her account for a 6 month car subscription, which we cancelled a couple of weeks ago. I just did the “outside the car” deal on my Swagbucks account. It tracked and 5000 SB went pending within a couple of hours. So you can be a “new Sirius customer” even if someone else in your household subscribed before.

Did the $8 purchase, and got the email from SB within an hour

I’ve done four offers this month — Doordash delivery one, Lemonade renters insurance, this Sirius one, and Hulu — and all tracked perfectly

Yu

Did you do the Hulu offer before? If yes, did you use the same email address this time?

A M
A M

Yes, I’ve done another Hulu offer on this same SB account. After doing it once, whenever Hulu offer reappeared it said I wasn’t eligible. This time, I had no problem and got through but did use another email address.

Kevin
Kevin

did the purchase on the 8$ but nothing is showing that is weird because Swagbucks usually appears pending instantly. Anybody had the same experience this time?

Gadget

Dan said didn’t show as pending until next day. AM said one hour.

Swagbucks email registration checker blocks gmail “+” and any yahoo email with the “-” disposable 🙁

Gadget

alchemista Your comment requires clarification. What does this “-” do or how does it affect things? I use Yahoo with SB all the time without issue. You picked two of the three most popular e-mail services, so if problems existed, it would be widespread.

A.S.
A.S.

I’m not familiar with Yahoo, but Gmail let’s you add a “+” to your email address which is then ignored by Gmail for identification. To Gmail, the email address “johndoe@gmail.com” is the same as “johndoe+someOtherCharacters@gmail.com”. They would both go to the same email address.

I imagine it’s the same with Yahoo. They’re mostly beneficial for users who want to track which email is added to various marketing lists but you can also use the same modified email for multiple services if you want to track those specially.

Gadget

Thank you for educating me on what the heck he/she was talking about. My immediate thoughts are the possibility that doing anything like that could screw up the rebate tracking.

A.S.
A.S.

I don’t think it would mess up the rebate tracking but it’s probably done by Swagbucks to prevent users from signing up with the same email multiple times.
