Swagbucks: Join AARP For $12 & Earn 2,000 Swagbucks (Worth $20)

The Offer

No direct link to offer, search ‘aarp’ on Swagbucks.

  • Swagbucks is offering 2,000 Swagbucks when you join AARP. First year is $12, must have auto renewal turned on

The Fine Print

  • SB will appear as Pending for 32 days.
  • Must enter valid sign-up information, including credit card information to earn SB.
  • SB may be revoked if you cancel within 32 days.
  • Offer may only be redeemed once (1) per user.

Our Verdict

Keep in mind you need to have auto renewal turned on, but you should be able to just turn that off later in the year after the Swagbucks have posted (just need to set a reminder for yourself). AARP is open to everybody and there are some benefits as well.

If you’re new to Swagbucks then please read our review. You can get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.

My parents had asked me to sign them up for a membership for a few months and I finally got around to doing it yesterday…. :/

I used a VGC to enroll (so even if I forget to cancel renewal, i’ll be good). Also SB went to pending almost immediately. Quick $8.

However, need to make sure I stop their sharing of information with “partners”. I know AARP subscription is notorious on this front, and I’ll be flooded with mail/email.

AARP can come in handy, but the junk mail load is extreme.

On the plus side, if you’re ever short on funds and want a free dinner, there are plenty of “Investment Advisors” who will buy you a steak dinner.

I’m curious how does AARP come in handy? Some examples? I just signed up through the Swagbucks offer but have no idea what it would be good for.

What do you mean free dinners from investment advisers? genuinely curious

There are still some hotel chains, restaurants, etc. that give discounts for AARP members. Best Western, Outback Steakhouse, AVIS.

Once you’re on the “old people” list with AARP, at least in my experience, you start getting junk mail from investment advisors offering a free dinner if you listen to their spiel.

I’m already an AARP member, about to expire 2/28. The Swagbucks offer says *Join* AARP but when I click on the link I can get the 25% off $12 rate even when I renew my membership. Anyone know if the swagbucks offer will work for a renewal?

There is a great deal for “Truthfinder,” as well. Enter a search, go through the ridiculous steps, fake calculations, get the checkout and walk away for five minutes. Come back, and the price drops to $1. The SB bonus is worth $35, so it is a net $34 gain. Make sure to cancel!

did “Truthfinder” instant post to SBs?

while you’re waiting the 5 minutes.. did it say “1. Pick Your Package”? and show two choices of unlimited reports? I only searched one person.. but the two options it’s showing is two plans for unlimited reports.. just wondering if I did it correctly while waiting 5 minutes

Clarence Weatherspoon

waited 5 minutes.. nothing happened on the check-out page.. clicked “secure check-out” with credit card on check-out page.. but nothing happened.. using Chrome

hmm.. update.. haha because why not nothing better to do this moment..

so I waited 20 minutes.. and finally the page refreshed with the offer.. but it says “SPECIAL 5-DAY TRIAL OFFER” after 5 days it charges $29.89..

hmm did you notice Daniel that it’s only a 5 day trial? but the Swagbucks terms say the subscription must be active for 31 days to credit.

Weird, I wish I had taken a screen shot.

I had gotten to checkout in Firefox, and it gave me two pricing options (one month or two months). Clicked on both options to see how they calculated and then left to take a shower. When I came back, I moved my mouse to close the window and a pop-up offered me $1 trial special.

SB posted instantly, although I needed to use a real CC, which makes me a bit nervous.

why would real cc make you nervous. just monitor and dispute

Sometimes cancelling is a hassle and it is easier to just let the new charges fail.

Two clarifications:

– The $1 promo is for a 5 day trial, which I was able to successfully cancel online.
– The SB instantly registered, but as pending.

The Special Terms tab says “Must stay subscribed for 32 days.” so not sure you’ll get it or they might claw it back.

Only 1000 for me finding out after signing up. Shady Swagbucks.

Did it show the higher amount before you purchased the membership?

Did not notice it. I was too blind I guess. It’s likely it’s 1000 for me anyways.

I always presumed it was $12 per month but now that I see this and wanted to do it, it’s down to 1000 SB so I missed the boat..
