Swagbucks: Join AARP For $12 & Earn 1,500 Swagbucks (Worth $15)

Update 12/29/20: Deal available again, there is also a Chase Offer/BofA for $8 back making it an even bigger money maker. Hat tip to FM

The Offer

No direct link to offer, search ‘aarp’ on Swagbucks.

  • Swagbucks is offering 1,000 Swagbucks when you join AARP. First year is $12, must have auto renewal turned on

The Fine Print

  • SB will appear as Pending for 32 days.
  • Must enter valid sign-up information, including credit card information to earn SB.
  • SB may be revoked if you cancel within 32 days.
  • Offer may only be redeemed once (1) per user.

Our Verdict

Keep in mind you need to have auto renewal turned on, but you should be able to just turn that off later in the year after the Swagbucks have posted (just need to set a reminder for yourself). AARP is open to everybody and there are some benefits as well.

If you’re new to Swagbucks then please read our review. You can get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.

Hat tip to DDG

  • Update 11/2/20: Now 1,500
  • Update 5/6/20: I’m seeing a lower 1,200 offer now (down from 2,000).

Still available on Mypoints but not Swagbucks for me. Clicked through last night and the points posted right after sign-up.

It looks like there’s also an AA Simply Miles card-linked offer (1,000 AA miles) to stack. It’s not 100% clear whether you have to use their link or just the registered card to get the miles, though.

I had no issue finding it. I just searched for “AARP” and the offer came up. My Sb are already pending and I used my CFF for an additional $8 back. Great deal.

2500 points on mypoints which is a slightly better return.

Is it? Cashing out via PP, 1500=$10 on SB, 1590=$10 on MP.

I usually redeem for Visa gc. Sb is the slightly better deal if you wait for the monthly reduced offer.

Ah, true. I used to do VGC, but prefer trading a super-minor loss in exchange for truly liquid funds.

I can’t argue with that.

Pulled the trigger on this deal yesterday. SB 1500 showed pending immediately. When will Chase $8 back appear?

It usually posts within a week of the purchase.

How does the BoA offer work in conjunction with this? How do I do both?

Activate the offer on the credit card and then use that card when purchasing through Swagbucks. So you pay $12 on the credit card that has the offer, get $8 back and also get 1500 SBs ($15 equivalent) when signing up through Swagbucks.

Signed up with Chase offer + SB. Instantly received SB pending email. Anyone able to set up online account right away? When I try to do so, it says “We are unable to process your request at this time,
please call 866-839-0463 for assistance and reference error code IDEN 001.”

Thanks!

Chatted with CSR who said they are having issues with website and try again tomorrow. Interestingly, the post-chat customer service link she shared after chatting also errored out.

Also, not sure whether anyone else cares, but membership is FREE for spouse also.

FWIW, was finally able to make account with AARP Now app, which seems a bit different than online registration (already pulls up your membership # with just your email, for example).

Also check SimplyMiles. I think only Mastercard works now but thankfully my Flex card had the Chase offer.
