A number of readers have reported receiving e-mails from Synchrony Bank, e-mails sent talk about a trial deposit being made to their amazon credit builder account (even when that user does not have such an account). Synchrony is now confirming that these e-mails were sent out in error with the following statement on their website:
Synchrony distributed a notification via email or text message in error to some consumers. The email did not include any customer data or personal information.  We are currently investigating the root cause.Â
We apologize for any confusion; you do not need to take any action at this time.
So glad I didn’t open my email. Thought it might be some kind of scam.
I had also received 3 texts, one was this morning only.
I received the messages too. I called immediately. The rep stated he had received numerous calls. I still think it’s fishy. But, all my credit bureau accounts are frozen so that would minimize any threats I hope.
Received two and since I had opened bank accounts recently I thought Synchrony was the “Parent” name for one of my new accounts? I went through all of them thinking it was verifying trial deposits, only to realize I had wasted my time. 🙂
I didn’t get a text message or email about any deposits. Not sure if i should be worried or not lol
I did get their apology letter, so i know email is working…..
Some of their customers = all of their customers in North America. Somebody is getting fired.
I guess I wouldn’t be too upset if someone stole the $12 I have on deposit with Synchrony.
Woke up early today and checked my email. Got two with no information except the subject line.
I just went back to sleep.
Yeah… I got two or three. I was wondering what was going on with that… thanks for the post. John 3:16
I got 3 of those emails today from Synchrony. The third one told me action was required on my application. I haven’t applied for any Synchrony accounts :3
