Synchrony has sent out an e-mail to to eBay Extras Mastercard cardholders informing them that their account will be closed on or after March 25, 2026. Important dates:
- Can continue to use card up until March 24, 2026
- Can redeem points when you reach the 600 point threshold until March 24, 2026. Points not redeemed will automatically be converted to a gift card at a rate of $5 for every 600 points
- Can continue to receive monthly statements and must continue to make payments after the March 24 date
I haven’t seen any reports that this will affect the PayPal Extras Mastercard (basically a carbon copy with different branding). Always odd when cards are outright closed like this rather than being product changed into another Synchrony product. Synchrony also didn’t allow product changes between this product (or the PayPal Extras card) and the new (at the time) PayPal cashback card. Changes were last made to these cards in 2019.
