Our Verdict
Nice deal for Chewy customers.
So here’s what you do
Buy a 15/20 off coupon on ebay
make new chewy
go through a portal for $20
Use autoship for 30% off
Spend $49 after coupon to trigger credit
Should save about $70 on a $120 order
Did this and it worked. Paid $50 +$5 for $90 of stuff, and should get 30 back since Amex and the portal both tracked, at least initially.
Net cost $25. Nice.
And by “targeted,” you mean “not me.”
Is there a Money Making stacking angle I am missing? Other than that what would make this better than the 100 other AMEX offers out there? I suppose dog food is a popular item in general..
I don’t believe so, Chewy’s already got pretty good deals & I use them already regularly so this is just a super convenient discount for me, and I assume many pet owners as well.
I just use it to buy drugs.
It’s basically free money for any pet owner. Chewy is usually priced competitively to Amazon so it’s a no-brainer for anybody buying pet food, treats, etc. Especially if you have the offer across multiple cards
If you mean, is it worth running out to get a dog or cat just to take advantage of this offer, then no. It wouldn’t be cost-effective.
I had this offer on my Hilton card but I also had a spend $49 get 1500 points on my gold card
Mine says “by using the link provided” (which I understand to mean you can’t use a portal).
I used a portal and got the confirmation email from Amex a minute later.
Cool, thank you (and to FM below).
Mine says that too but the link provided is simply chewy.com. I’m guessing the language is a typo or copy/paste error from a prior offer. I have good success with TCB tracking chewy orders — sign up as a new customer every time to combine the first-time autoship promo + $15 new customer bonus from TCB. Makes my expensive dog food usually 60%+ off
what do you mean by portal? Rakuten or something?
Yes, Rakuten, Topcashback, etc. But in regards to this offer, I was able to combine with a portal like Kian and FM. I agree with FM that the language was likely an error on Amex’ part in this case (although if they renew the offer, pay close attention to the link).
Chewy has 10% off egift cards until 5/10
Not as good as the 17% off in March, but I will take it.
Chewy.com has a not as well-publicized wishlist program like Amazon.
Any 501c3 animal rescue can participate.

Do gift cards qualify for this Amex Offers deal?
Be the datapoint you want to see.
Ok Vy. Just ordered a gift card for my dog!
I bet he’ll chew it right up…
It should. I purchased a $75 GC today and didn’t receive ‘congratulations’ email from Amex. Let’s see if I can get the $15 credit in the next week or so.
Received notification after ordering $75 GC.
Credit received for buying gift card and using a portal.
