Kinda sucks since most insurance isn’t paid that frequently unless you pay auto or renters insurance monthly (but I’m guessing most DoC readers don’t pay insurance monthly)

Am I missing something? It doesn’t appear to say that you can only use this if your insurance bills are spread evenly across 12 months.

I pay mine every six months. So if I pay my $420 bill three weeks from now I should get $30 back — right?

I believe the only thing that you are missing is that the offer expires in less than 2 months so roughly 2/3rds of people won’t have a 6month bill before this expires.

Unless you pre-pay.

Also you can probably pay each $300 chunk separately. At least in my case the offer was on all the non-business cards.

a lot of insurance comes due at the end of the year (or beginning of the next). it’s too bad my insurance company only takes MC/Visa.

Would like to know if it works for Geico auto insurance as well or its for home insurance. Seems like it might just be home insurance.

I got this offer on my blue cash everyday
Hope it will work for my proggresive auto.
I also have an offer
3 months free BJs membership
You have to save the code Amex
And present it at a BJs costumer desk.

Progressive won’t accept Amex.

Great find. I got this on 6 of 8 cards. My offers each say, “Offer is limited to a total of $30 in statement credits per American Express® online account.” What is an online account? If I create a separate login for each card, would I be able to use this 6 times?

Put another way, if I load this onto 6 cards all under one login, will I be able to get the credit 6 times?

Can anyone confirm if this is just for home insurance? Or does it work for auto or health? Data points appreciated.

Datapoint: I used it to pay for visitors health (medical) insurance and it worked! Also Dental insurance center is listed as a valid location. So looks like it works for anything related to insurance.

Between wife and I we were 1/13 – I guess $30 is better than nothing

I had this on 6/7 offers. My home insurance is with AMICA and it is built into my mortgage. Seems like this would be an easy way to save $180 bucks with the 6 cards.

Anyone have any experience on how to remove your home insurance from being part of your mortgage and paying it yourself?

Thanks!

Glenn

I wouldn’t. You could though pre-pay the insurance using a credit card. Then when your mortgage pays it you’ll get a rebate check.

Some test results. I loaded the offer onto 6 cards under one login. I made a $10 online payment for my Geico auto insurance using Card #1, and received the “Great news! You just used your Amex Offer” message. Then I made a $10 online payment for my Geico umbrella insurance using Card #2, and also received the “Great news!” message.

I made a $300 payment towards my Geico auto insurance last night and didn’t get an email…

Hopefully I’ll still get the credit!

Were you able to prepay Geico auto insurance or it was against balance due? I am not able to figure out how to pre pay this.

Blah, I’m all paid up for the year on all my insurances and have this offer on several of my cards.

Mercury just terminated Amex as the payment method since August. Nice

You might be able to make overpayment to your insurance, and be able to get a refund.
At least, this works for my homeowner’s, which is annual, and which I paid by card with my CSP in June.
Was a quick way to meet my minimum spending in one transaction.

A month later, my lender disbursed a check from escrow to the insurance company. The insurance company sent me a refund check 3 days later.
