Update 10/20/23: Deal is back, now 12%.
Update 9/14/23: Some people are reporting now getting an email from Capital One with either 12% or 15% back at Giftcards.com. It’s a targeted offer.

Our Verdict
Obviously an absolutely insane offer if targeted. This also stacks with the 5% off sale as promo code VETERANSDAYSALE is listed on Capital One shopping.
Hat tip to GC Galore
Cap 1 gave me a $10 credit for their garbage browser extension the minimum gift card you can buy is $25 and all the stores are garbage.
While some gc have a minimum of $25 redemption (ie Ebay), not all do. Albertsons has a minimum of $5 and that is definitely useful for people that have an Albertsons/Safeway/Acme/etc near them.
Not sure if things have changed, but the main issue with the Albertsons gift cards is that it seems that the e-gift cards cannot be used at self checkouts and sometimes even cause confusion when trying to use at the regular register. If it was for physical Albertsons gift card I would not have an issue.
Agreed! Most store clerks don’t know how to use them and give you that look that you are causing trouble and holding line up!
It still doesn’t work at self checkout but they took away 1 step for the cashiers to do so it’s not as much of a problem. I would prefer the physical gc also.
Eric Unfortunately, the reduction in steps has been replaced by a problem with the QR code. Many registers have old guns that cannot read the QR code. I have run into this issue repeatedly at the pharmacy and the fuel stations. The check-out registers at the front of the store are usually OK, although it may take a few tries.
I took advantage of the 12% offer last month and it has tracked (still pending).
Got this 12% offer again but now whenever I click through the email link, the plug in window that pops up keeps showing just 2%, and not the 12%.
Clicking through the capitaloneshopping.com site gets 4% on the plug in window.
Anyone else having this problem?
Good luck getting it to track. Cap One shopping is garbage. It’s the worst out of about 20 cashback sites that I’ve used. I’m glad that I opened a checking account for a $350 bonus and immediately closed it after receiving the bonus. I did it for revenge on these grifters wasting my time with their terrible cashback site.
Mine tracked on a Microsoft purchase and I got about $400 back.
@MCT Well said. Cap One’s shopping portal is absolute garbage. The only one I’ve ever used that hasn’t worked for me.
All my orders at Giftcards.com have been cancelled for “security” screening. Have been trying for days.
The only way to get around is to open a new account. GCC is really bad.
Do not bother with Cap1 Shopping. People get a lot of problems.
Cap1 Offers are legit…..
I’ve gotten some great discounts on the Cap1 offers. Cap1 Shopping almost feels like spam with all their popups.
I still havent received the 60$ joining bonus for signing up via referral on the cap one extension although I have made quite a few purchases. how long does it take?
It should show you pending status. Usually 1 month to post the credits. If it’s saying pending you are okay.

You can verify that your special rate has not expired by using a browser with the C1 Shopping extension installed. When you click on the targeted e-mail, you will see the higher rate in the extension, and should be able to take a screenshot.
Great trick, thank you RM.
Thank you for the tip! I received the 12% email but the extension icon only showed 2% after clicking through the email link.
Ken Make sure you click on the e-mail first, and then check the extension. The extension will not show the higher rate otherwise. If you are still seeing 2%, then, unfortunately, your offer may have expired. In my experience, however, C1 Shopping e-mail offers are typically good for a couple of weeks.
Thanks RM, I did click on the email link first. The email was sent one day ago. I tried again in incognito mode and still got 2%. Interestingly, Capital One Shopping did not ask me to log in while incognito.
Extensions don’t work in incognito mode.
RM,
My offer that I told Ken about hadn’t expired yet but it still didn’t work. Oddly, I’ve had offers that were emailed to me (with no expiration date) work weeks or even months later.
A similar thing happened to me recently. I received an 8% CB offer for Staples by email C1S that was supposed to expire on 11.1.23. I clicked on it but only 1% showed up on the icon on the browser so I didn’t proceed. I tried again and the same thing happened.
I then used a 6% link with no expiration date that C1S had sent me previously and 6% showed up on the icon so I proceeded with that.
Eric Ken Tdot It seems that C1 Shopping has dramatically shortened the length of time during which these e-mail offers remain valid. I got some in the spring that lasted almost a whole month. Now P2 and I got one on 10/24 and it was already expired when I went to use it on 10/28.
By “expired” do you mean that it had no expiration date shown on the email but didn’t work, that it had a later expiration date shown on the email but still didn’t work (like what happened to me with the 8% Staples offer) or that the emailed offer had an expiration date shown on the email 3 or less days from when you received it?
BTW, my Staples transaction for 6% CB posted to my account almost a week after I made the purchase.
Eric A variant of the first alternative: the offer had no expiration date shown in the e-mail, showed the correct targeted percentage in the extension two days after receipt of the e-mail (but I did not use it at that time), and did not show the elevated targeted percentage by the fourth day after receipt of the e-mail.
In the past, these offers (at least for me) lasted 3-4 weeks.
Did it happen to be a higher than usual offer in the email? If so, it’s probably exactly what happened with my Staples 8% offer. I never actually confirmed that it ever worked but it probably did work in the beginning and then was disabled a short time later.
Eric It was 9% back at giftcards.com. So pretty good, but nothing amazing. I’ve gotten 30% back at giftcards.com in the past, and that lasted almost a month.
RM,
Did the 9% and 30% deals restrict buying Visa/MC gc?
Eric Only in the general sense of less than $2,000 per transaction. I think the 30% offer also had a limit of no more than $500 cash back per transaction.
Capital One Shopping is trash. My accounts keep disappearing and points never seem to track. I have no trouble with the other portals.
I am using iphone and generally clicking these offers from the mail box launches the cap1 shopping app where I finish the transaction. But for this Giftcards.com it goes to phone’s browser without any sign of 12%. Is anyone also seeing similar issues and have any suggestion.
I want to use iphone to benefit from Apple pay cash back on US Bank CC.
