Chase Offers: Get 10% Back At HomeDepot.com, Up To $54 Cashback

Update 3/15/24: Deal is back for 10% with up to $54 cashback (nice!), valid through 4/14/24. Spring is a good season for a Home Depot deal. Online purchases only. Hopefully it works for ship-to-store orders. (ht Ryan and Tikky)

The Offer

Check your Chase Offers for the following deal:

  • Save offer to get 10% cash back at HomeDepot.com with a $54 maximum.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid one time only. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer not valid on third-party delivery services.

Our Verdict

Far as I can tell, Home Depot physical and e-gift cards purchased at Homedepot.com have their payments processed directly by Home Depot and should work to trigger this offer. You can then use the gift card at a Home Depot store.

Deal History:

  • Update 9/27/22: Deal is back and valid until 10/1/22.

My Chase Freedom Flex statement just closed.
And sure enough, the weasels at Home Depot broke up my online order of April 30 into 5 different transactions.
Apparently they didn’t do this back in mid-March when this offer began according to posts on Slickdeals.

P1 made a purchase today (last day) for a physical gift of $554.00. Tried to do two different cards and was declined.

P2 tried through their app and website and with their Chase cards in their name and was declined each time (“…if this persists, call your card issuer”). Tried for $495 and for $554.00

We called Chase and nothing is showing on their end, it’s Home Depot being a douche.

at the bottom of the offer:
It is possible that a merchant may split your purchase into multiple transactions. In this case, you may only receive your statement credit on the first transaction amount. If this occurs, please call the number on the back of your card.

Yep. Stupid Home Depot split my $525 purchase of eGift cards into 5 transactions. ARGH.

What exactly did you buy? Wondering if they charge multiples of the same gift card separately

I bought 4 different $100 Home Depot eGift cards.
The HD website does not allow me to order 4x of $100 eGift cards.
I had to add one $100 eGift card at a time to the cart.
So HD split up each eGift card as a separate transaction even though it is one order.
You can see what I mean if you try it yourself.

I could have ordered 1x $400 eGift card, but I didn’t want to.
The $25 eGift card was for Burger King.

It looks like I will need to contact Chase after my statement closes.

For Grant and anyone else unsure if a gift card will trigger the offer, Yes I can confirm.

Also FWIW, if you’re continually getting the payment error like me, keep trying. Home depot is allowing me to get one about every three days.

Count de Monet Did you buy Home Depot or 3rd party? Physical?

I didn’t think I would take advantage of this offer but P2 decided that a lot of garden stuff would be needed this spring so thought I’d grab one. TIA

Only a single Home Depot gift card in the amount of $540 (or more) will net you the maximum $54 rebate.

The other closed loop third-party gift cards have a maximum of $200, and most are only available as physical gift cards that get shipped. Regardless of how many gift cards you add to your order, the maximum you will net is $20 because each one is processed as a separate transaction.

I got a whopping $4 rebate for the $40 eGC that “shipped” immediately and $0 rebate for the $500 in physical cards that posted three days later (only the first purchase triggers the 10%). AFAIK, GCs are not returnable.

Made a $220 purchase on the Home Depot site for three items, and HD split it into three separate transactions. Of course I only got credit for one of the three (the cheapest item, $16, naturally). Calling Chase, they asked if I had spoken to Home Depot about the issue. Sigh. Really is best to buy a HD gift card if making a multi-item purchase. Don’t be me.

I did eventually get the rest of my statement credit, two weeks later! I thought my call had fallen on deaf ears, but apparently that was not the case.

This sounds like a pattern with Home Depot on this Chase Offer.
Not going to buy from them again with this $hit they are pulling on this offer.

What’s your velocity? With GCs, some retails like to see a pattern of purchase. Start with a low amount (i.e. $10-$50) to let their system settle. Then try ramping things up after you receive the order in hand. Speculation but too fast, too soon method maybe the culprit.

Possible but the offer is clear on one purchase only

Possibly, but this offer is one use only so it would be a waste to use it up on small purchases.

Buy something small with a different CC first. Let it settle. Repeat. Save receipts. Give it a day or two, then try those ‘big ticket’ HD item using Chase Offer w/CC again. Once purchased item is confirmed received, it should be greenlight with the other Chase Offer CC. Later return small items when done with saved receipts.
