Our Verdict
This is a targeted offer, but spending bonuses on the Citi Sears card are quite common. There is actually three versions of the card:
- This SYWR earning card
- Citi ThankYou points earning card
- Cash back card
It’s only possible to apply for the SYWR version, but you should be able to product change to the other versions. Just keep in mind that the SYWR version has bigger % bonuses such as this, whereas the cashback/Citi TYP earning card is usually maxed out at 5-10% back. These promotions are why this card is listed as the best store credit card. Should be a pretty easy $300 in points for most people who are targeted.

Are there any data points of switching back from ThankYou to SYWR? I have not been targeted for a single ThankYou promotion since I made the switch and have missed out on quite a few SYWR promotions.
Usually you need some spend on the card to trigger the offers. I think product changing would probably reset this spend requirement, so try putting a bit of misc spend on it and seeing how you go.
How did you switch from sywr to TU in the first place? I tried calling two months after account opening and was denied. I figured i must have to wait a year. Was that your experience?
I had only had the card for a few months when I called to switch (I kept seeing all these great ThankYou deals). I have put some (grocery) spend on the card since the conversion, but will try using the card a bit elsewhere.
