Our Verdict
Seems like something like this is sent out every month from Citi.
I have never got the extra bonus after activating and spending on my DC card. Chat with TYP agent but not helpful.
Got a popup on my Costco anywhere visa for 5% back as a statement credit (up to $25) on airlines, car rental agencies, hotels, travel agencies. Card already gets 3% on travel issued every February, but it doesn’t have good travel protections so I probably won’t use it. It’s nice to see the Costco card getting more offers, though, since they dropped the extended warranty and price protection.
I got (as a letter in the mail I figured was a new card offer, good thing I opened it huh Citi…) 5x ThankYou points on “eligible purchases” through January 31, 2024, on my Rewards+ card. Has to be activated using the letter.
The fine print defines the offer accordingly:
“This offer starts upon enrollment and will end on 01/31/2024. Earnings associated with this program will earn 4 bonus ThankYou Point(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases and may overlap with over special offers in which you are currently enrolled. Bonus points awarded with this offer are subject to a maximum of 2,500 additional points.
This offer excludes gas stations and supermarket purchases, and purchases booked through the Citi Travel site.”
It goes on with the typical warnings about balance transfers, cash advances, etc. not qualifying and good standing, etc. But the marketing language specifically named eligible purchases as restaurants and retail shopping, the latter of which sounds fairly broad to me so maybe it’s only those three category exclusions in the fine print.
Citi sent me one: 5000 AA miles if you use your card ONCE for each of the next three billing cycles.
JUST cancelled the card a week ago.

Be careful with Citi’s PayPal offers. Citi is having issues with recognizing PayPal charges. Here’s my story:
In the beginning of July 2022, I activated a Citi’s offer of 5 bonus points per $1 spent with PayPal on my DoubleCash card (up to 3,000 points). On 07/26 I made two charges using PayPal (estimated tax payment through payUSAtax). I haven’t received my bonus points to this day.
Today I reached out to their customer service through online chat. They responded: “We are aware of the issue and currently looking into it. Once the issue is resolved, the rewards will be adjusted accordingly. You will be provided with additional communication once available.”
I asked about their timeframe. Their response: “Our team is working on this as this issue was spotted only at the end of last month. So expect it to be resolved in a month.”
I received an email for the Synchrony Verizon Visa:
Earn $10 Verizon Dollars for every purchase of $200 or more made outside of Verizon with your Verizon Visa Card.
No activation required. Valid November 1 through December 31, 2022.
