Just received an email that states

“We are writing to let you know that we have reviewed our records and noticed we missed a bonus payout for a promotion you completed.

We issued a $150 credit to your checking account. Please note, this bonus will be reported to the IRS for income tax purposes.

This credit memo is ‘Balance Builder Bonus’. If we are unable to credit your account, you will soon receive a second letter with a check enclosed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for choosing Citizens.”

$150 posted to my account today, did not use real DD but had various different ACHs that could have triggered it

Update I contacted and was allegedly part of a group of members that weren’t credited the bonus, and should receive by the end of the month

Anyone get their 150?

So I wonder if anyone tries to call-in to generate this email. Could I scold Citizens for emailing this offer to two members of household, and no email to third?

This is why we can’t have anything nice

I signed up for their $400 bonus in December ($300 for a DD of $500 or more within 60 days plus $2 for each debit card purchase up to 50 – $100 max), but haven’t gotten the new offer mentioned here. Perhaps they exclude existing accounts that are scheduled to get a bonus? Anyone else in my boat?

It would be a good surprise if the $150 is offered to customers who are already doing the $400 promo. I doubt that would happen though.

My data point:

I opened One Deposit checking and savings accounts in January for a targeted $600 bonus offer I received in the mail and also did not get targeted for this offer, so that reinforces your exclusion theory.

I didn’t receive the e-mail. I have a Citizens account I opened in Feb 2020 and got I think a $400 bonus at that time. I use the account regularly though and have a direct deposit going to it already.

So I would guess anyone who’s already using it is not going to get the e-mail for this bonus. It’s probably only for those who don’t have a direct deposit or aren’t using the account much currently.

I would say though of all the banks with branches in my area that I’ve done the offers on, Citizens has been my favorite. They’re always super helpful and they have a lot of branches in my area, and with nice shiny new ATM’s in the supermarkets I shop at so that is convenient.

you’re currently receiving DD, and the offer didn’t target you. Why even post here??

Have had the account for years, and don’t do direct deposit. Do one deposit a month to keep it free-free, and pay a bill once or twice a month. No email. Maybe you can’t use the account at all.
I did get an offer yesterday, both email and physical mailer, for 150.- for signing up with their credit card. Not biting. I got their card years ago when they offered 10% on grocery spend for a time, and it was a nightmare redeeming the rewards.

true it seems the less use of account the better. ..Still can’t figure out HOW one of my three accounts didn’t get the email. Usage was uniformly sparse

I already got the 300 bonus a few months ago but received this email. Any idea if I’m still eligible?
