Tip: Don’t Use Amex App to Find Amex Offers (Caps at 50 Offers)

Numerous readers and others have noticed that a recent Amex Offer wasn’t showing in the Amex app, but did show for them on the ordinary website (desktop or on the mobile website in browser). Apparently, the Amex app caps us at being able to see 50 offers which means there are many hidden offers you can’t see.

I’ve long been aware of the cap of 100 offers on the regular site, but don’t recall hearing the app is capped at 50. The 100 limit often doesn’t matter since there may be fewer offers available, or you may have saved some offers bringing your total under 100. But the 50-cap means the app is essentially useless for checking. (Maybe they put the newer offers on top and those usually remain visible?)

Some people even save some offers just to have them removed from the ‘Available’ tab, thus keeping their total under 100 and making everything visible. Again, this method is harder in the app since you’ll have to save dozens of offers to get yourself under 50.

I think Amex must have fixed this. Recently I’ve noticed that the app loads at least 90-100 offers. Not sure if the 100 cap applies since I personally have not reached that cap on any of my cards right now.

It also maxes out at 100 saved (“Added to card”) offers too. Like I’ve had 100 saved offers on my AMEX Gold for a few weeks and if I add 5 more offers to bring my “Available” offers below 100 it’ll show 105 “Added to card” for a second and then change it back to 100. So it kind of complicates things since I’m trying to see more available offers by adding the offers to the card, but at the same time now AMEX is removing saved offers each time I add more.

Amex needs to up it’s game regarding displaying Amex offers, even on the website. BoA Offers and Chase Offers are displayed as square icons which you click on to know the details, which is much more space efficient. The vertical scrolling you need to do to read all your Amex Offers is a huge annoyance. Furthermore, the least they can do it group by merchant category – Dining, Travel, Retail.

I just assumed this was common knowledge. I haven’t relied on the app just about from the first time I used it because it was obvious there were a lot fewer offers visible. My oldest Amex card very often has over 100 offers so I add enough to get it under under 100 to be certain I am seeing all that are available.

Always getting the “offers are currently unavailable please try again later” on the web version. Anybody knows why?

How are people getting 50, let alone 100 offers? I have 3 offers across all my cards with 5 added (ignoring all the “refer a friend” type ‘offers’ in the list)

Not sure who you pissed off, but even on my Serve card I have 31. And it’s basically never been out of the house, and never made a real purchase.

Yeah, I must have really done it to someone . I haven’t had a valuable offer in any card since they killed the multiple login workaround. Not even those Marriott deal direct links work for me.

I have more than 100 offers saved on my no-fee Amex Everyday card (which is use once or twice a year). I save all the offers that I don’t care about on this card,so they don’t clutter my other cards. There is definitely no 100 saved offer limit because I have been over 100 on saved offers for many months now, and I still see plenty of good offer on my other cards.

Interesting that you get so many offers on the no-fee Everyday. I used to get lots of offers on my Everyday Preferred, but I don’t think I’ve gotten a single one since I downgraded it to the no-fee about two months ago.

Saving some offers, even if you don’t want them, may trigger AMEX to serve up additional offers. Same logic is true for Chase Offers.
