The Fine Print

  1. To be eligible for the $5 cash back promotion, you must be a member of TopCashback.com. You must activate the offer by clicking the link above to activate the promotion, prior to making an eligible transaction. Activations will be reported back to TopCashback.
  2. You must make a purchase through TopCashback between February 21, 2020 00:01: PT and February 23, 2020 23:59 PT.
  3.   4. Your purchase amount should be $15 or more. This is the purchase amount reported back to TopCashback, some merchants may exclude tax & fees or shipping charges.
  5. You can earn a maximum of $5.00 bonus cash back.
  6. Tell-A-Friend and Sign Up bonuses will not count as one of your purchases towards the Cash Back Bonus.
  7. The Cash Back bonus will not count towards your friend’s Tell-a-Friend referral threshold.
  8. To qualify for the Cash Back bonus the original transaction must be eligible for cash back. Please review merchant terms and conditions prior to purchase to avoid declined or untracked cash back.
  9. Cash Back Bonus will be added on to your account as a seperate cash back amount once the original transaction has tracked. Please allow 14 days for this to appear.
  10. If you cancel your order, the Cash Back Bonus will be removed.
  11. Only one TopCashback.com account per person is allowed.
  12. Cash Back Bonus may not automatically apply to purchases where a Missing Cash Back Claim needs to be lodged to get your purchase to track correctly. If this is the case and your claim is successful you will need to raise a support ticket to be awarded the bonus.
  13. TopCashback will not be held responsible for any technical failure or otherwise which prevents participation in this promotion.
  14. Events may occur that render the promotion itself or the awarding of payable cash back impossible due to reasons beyond the control of TopCashback and accordingly TopCashback may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to TopCashback as a result.

Our Verdict

It’s officially targeted, might work for everyone in practice. Nice little addition of $5 on top of the regular portal earnings. Remember to activate the offer first.

I and my wife used our TCB accounts to buy $15+ items at Walmart.com last Friday and Saturday. It did take about 48 hrs to get the “Order tracked” email. In the fineprints, TCB does say tracking for the Spend-$15-Get-$5 will take longer to track.

Am I the only one who’s pro Topcashback?

Yes, their customer services are crap but they do try their best. My last bonus didn’t track so I open a support ticket. I thought it was an easy request since the promotion was their promotion but they told me to wait 14 days. 14 days later the bonus posted.

Yes, sometimes your purchases don’t track. I think this is more operator error than anything else. Read the fine print for each retailer. Some retailer wants you to start with an empty cart. Some retailer doesn’t want you to use any discount codes at checkout. Some retailer has exclusions or items that do not earn cashback.

Yes, sometimes your missing cashback claims take forever to resolve if it gets resolved at all. I still have three claims open from 11 months ago. What I learned is if a retailer doesn’t want to pay me for their cashback, then I won’t use them again.

Their Highest Cashback Guarantee is awesome. So far all my claims have been resolved in less than 24 hours.

Their VGC payout usually gives a bonus of 5%. Sometimes when they have a promotion you can get a 6% or 7% bonus. Their virtual VGC payout takes 1 business day to process. I have not had any delay in payout since day 1 of using TCB.

Top Cashback has mostly been excellent. Whenever a purchase doesn’t track, I immediately file a claim for missing cashback. It takes a long time, but it’s usually resolved in my favor. When it isn’t, they explain the company’s records don’t show I went through Top Cashback. I’m familiar with the problem of leaving things in your cart if you haven’t gone through Top Cashback — that’s how all the sellers do it. You have to go through Top Cashback before beginning the ordering process.

Bought a couple of pillows from Walmart.com before Christmas. Obviously this is in the bedding section but they didn’t track like that through eBates for some reason. 1% vs 10% which is a big difference. I e-mailed support who gladly added the extra cash back to my account as a courtesy. With TCB I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere. In fact, I’m still waiting on cash back from a Best Buy purchase made December 4th to show as confirmed. Just tried to open a ticket and their system won’t even let me.

I do all the usual things like start a new session, not use multiple tabs, not adding to the cart beforehand, not having ad-block on, not using non-listed coupons, etc., and still tcb only tracks some of the time. Apparently merchants can just decline your claim due to you supposedly using “another marketing channel.” /insert eyeroll

Sometimes Patrick from TCB jumps in here to defend their shitty practices and say “ just contact our customer service department”. He has no idea how crappy these csrs are.

Other than the initial hiccups, I have never encountered an issue with TCB while getting over $3000 cashback. So I don’t know why some of you are having so many issues.
