Uber Issuing (& Revoking) Bonus $10/$35 Credits For Amex Gold & Platinum Cardholders

Many people are reporting lots of craziness with regards to their $10 monthly Amex Gold credit and bonus $35 December Amex Platinum cards. People are seeing their credits a second time, despite have already used it earlier this month. Then it’s getting ‘Revoked’ for a lot of people a few hours later.

Obviously something wonky is going on with the Uber credits programming. You’ll likely see a notification about the new credits as well when they post, but then they’ll probably be ‘Revoked’ a few hours later. Not clear what happens for those who ordered something while the credits are around, but hopefully the other payment methods won’t be charged and you’ll land up with a freebie.

Anybody else also get it back?

I got my extra Amex credit redeposited a little while ago.

I sent a cordial email to VP of marketing for Uber (see below) after getting no where with the reps.

Well worth a few extra minutes to send a polite but disappointed email.

Congrats but you’re a nutjob for begging for something that you weren’t entitled to anyway. Its ofc a different story if you did order and then got charged more than you expected.

.90 cent charge for my meal went through and then statement closed for my CC the next day. No other charges from UberEats.

TLDR = Those who still have this extra credit, be sure to use it all up at once. I got it and used some and thought I’d use the rest later. The extra credit paid for my order but the “remaining balance” got revoked.

2 DPs to report.
1. Of the December credit, I had my full $35 left and got a notification of an additional $35 credited to my account on the morning of 12/26, making it a total of $70. Ordered a pickup for a little over $50, leaving $19ish as the balance. That balance got revoked.
2. My friend has 2 Platinums and had used up his December credits of $70 (35×2). He got 2 additional credits. He also did an order – his was about $55. The remaining $15ish got revoked.

Pending charges on the credit card for both the amount that was over the extra credit and then a second charge for the entire order. Will see how this plays out, but right now it looks like I’m being charged for more than if I just ordered the food.

I see 2 charges on my Gold AMEX card – one charge with credit applied and one with full charge with out credit applied for my single order . I called AMEX CS and opened dispute for full charge . Let see RAT team will be marching on my account 😛

The same happened for me…one charge with credit applied and one full charge. I’m not sure if it’s worth opening a dispute or not, but please do let us know how it goes.

I guess maybe I got a free meal b/c I used the credit and didn’t go over. But later I received a notification that the credit was revoked. I however do not see any charge on my credit card.

Uber deactivated my account earlier this month and will not tell me why. I have 2 Amex Plat cards and have been using only Uber Eats, with the exception of 3 or 4 Uber rides last month (only rides for the year). They said they have a zero fraud policy and have found irregular activity on my account. When I asked what I did (because I literally ordered food the same way for the last 11 months, so have no clue what I did wrong), and pushed them to give me a reason, they quit responding. I filed a complaint with the BBB but that seems to have gotten nowhere. I don’t do anything besides use Uber Eats, so I have no clue what they think I did. It really sucks, because that $200 Uber credit really helps in justifying the big annual fee.

They don’t know, you’re just a statistical outlier of the ML regression fit

Here’s the response:

“I’m sorry to hear that you were unable to use your Amex credits. I have looked into this matter for you, and I’m happy to provide some clarity.

First, I looked over your interaction with our support team. I’d like to clarify that this issue with the credits showing as “revoked” was not caused by you, nor any actions you’ve taken. In fact, this was due to a known technical issue that we are currently working to resolve. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

While we are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible, at the moment, I don’t have an exact timeframe for resolution. However, I will personally follow up with you in a day or so to confirm that the credits have been returned to you. If they have not, I will take further action at that time.

Again, we apologize for the confusion and hope to have this matter resolved shortly”
