Uber Testing New All In One Pass (Free JUMP Rides, Free Delivery On Uber Eats & Fixed Ride Discount On Uber)

Uber is testing a new all in one pass in San Francisco and Chicago and some other areas. They are testing a few different versions of the pass but one example has it costing $24.99 and providing:

  • Free Uber Eats delivery
  • Free JUMP rides (scooters and bikes)
  • A fixed discount on every Uber ride (they are referring to this as price protection for some reason)

Earlier this year Uber Eats launched Uber Eats Pass, this provides no service fee, free delivery and a 10% discount for $9.99 in some locations. Uber has also experimented with different Uber ride passes as well, competitor Lyft offers the all access plan & smart savings plan as well. This is the first time we’ve seen Uber try to roll multiple services into a single pass. How useful this new offering from Uber will really depend on what the fixed priced discount is and if the free Uber Eats delivery also waives the service charge or not.

For Uber in Chicago I’m currently targeted to get 25% off rides as long as I take 1 ride each week and it renews for free but I don’t know for how long. If I take 5 rides then the next week I get 50% off. Prices are still high compared to Lyft 25% off plan I currently ($15) have and sometimes Via beats them both but I have to walk a little. I previously had a $24.99 ride pass with Uber that didn’t include the current bundled services but the discount was a joke and was vague, not a consistent discount and did not include any discount for Uber Pool rides where you do not walk so only for Express Pool where you walk or UberX, I canceled that pass and let’s see if I get targetted.

Just got targetted for the pass. It is $24.99 for 15% off UberX & Pool rides (I can’t find any fine print to see if they mean both Express Pool and regular Pool), $0 delivery fee & 5% off Uber Eats with a $15 minimum order, no mention of scooters. 15% is a joke but I wonder if it stacks with my current 25% off promo which is free. Here is the email terms:
15% off on every ride
With an Uber Pass you’ll get consistently lower prices, no matter the traffic, weather, or time of day. Save up to 15% on every eligible UberX and UberPool ride you request in the Chicago metro area.1

Unlimited free delivery on Uber Eats
Enjoy a $0 delivery fee—plus an additional 5% off all orders in your city over $15 (not including taxes and fees)—with Uber Eats from all your favorite restaurants, anytime. Other fees apply.2

I’m starting to lose faith that any of these companies are not gaming the system in some way.

Recently signed up for a 30 day trial door dash pass and for example one Asian restaurant in wife’s acct w/o Pass has free delivery but same restaurant delivery is $5.99 (w or w/o $12 minimum order) with pass, other restaurants that are free delivery in DW app shows $1.99 with Pass iny app.

Recent Samsung Galaxy days 2,500 pts for $10 off Lyft. $20 ride on wife’s account same trip, same time, same pick up with Lyft $10 off trip est with $10 promo is $17 same deal if Lyft or Lyft XL.

I posted a while back about checking an Uber fare from airport on was cheaper on my phone that had 80% battery and fare even higher fare on DW phone that had less than 15% and how algos are beyond surge pricing but also phone owners sex and battery life.

This is of no use to me but seems like a great idea. It pulls users deeper into the Uber ecosystem and acts as a differentiator from other platforms. Effectively “paying” users to commit to the platform via a bulk discount across diverse services

Is anyone not taking Uber because of the cost? Are those people taking the bus? Walking? Uber and Lyft keep chasing each other to the bottom, which is going to put one of them out of business. In the end that’s bad for all of us. I don’t want to go back to owning a car.

Iin addition to bus and walking, there is the train, bike, taxi and Zipcar. For me and I suspect a few others price plays a big part on using Uber and I am glad to see the competition.

If one goes out of business, another company will jump in.

I love the idea of combining Uber ride discounts with free scooter use. The Jump scooters are all over Miami (in addition to 5 other companies) and I can absolutely see people using this pass here in the downtown area. Scooters are excellent for short distances where a car is borderline silly, and the Uber rides for longer distances is great. If I worked nearby I would 100% get rid of my car and use scooters around here to/from work and ride share for longer distances.

How many ended up in the Miami canals and waterway’s last year?

Here In Portland OR last month the Sheriff Dive team fished out 50+ e-scooters (1 out of every 35 rental on the streets ended up in the Willamette river)

Last summer even more were impounded by hotels and shops because they were left in front of doors and driveways and parking spots.
Still others vicariously lived out that secret Mad Max fantasy and jumped stairs, curbs and off walls.
