[Expired] [YMMV] UberEats: $5 Off With Promo Code LETSEATS5

Deal has expired, view more ways to save on Uber Eats by clicking here.

Reposting because promo code is actually LETSEATS5 not LETSEAT5

The Offer

  • UberEats is offering $5 off when you enter promo code LETSEATS5

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 4/14/19

Our Verdict

Keep in mind this stacks with the American Express Platinum credit and UberEats recently made mostly negative changes to the fee structure.

RANDYFTW can’t be added anymore (could still be used if already added).

Of course it can’t. The code expired 4/9 at 9PM Pacific.

not work, seems targeted

Promotion code is not valid. Must be targeted

Not that it matters since I just did my monthly “eat Amex credit” order earlier today, but the code LETSEAT5 shows as not valid for me.

And yes, those new fees are eating up a lot of value of the Amex credit. Cut back on the tip for the driver since my assumption is that (a) delivery fee is for deliverer and (b) if drivers no longer make enough money, market forces will force Uber Eats to reverse course.

Someone else should chime in with more specifics, but my assumption is that the ‘delivery fee’ for Uber Eats basically pays for the driver’s car/gas. – At least that’s how it is with other delivery companies like Postmates and DoorDash.

I too am interested to see how “Market Forces” will play out in this regard as well. – Something to keep in mind is that unlike a server at a restaurant (Waiting on multiple customers at one time). a driver typically delivers 1 order at a time. (At most 2-3). A typical delivery takes between 20-50 minutes depending on the restaurant and time of day.

– Basically after covering the expense of the their car, most drivers are “Lucky” if they make enough tips for their total earning after expenses be at least minimum wage.*

*Of course there is no minimum wage for contractors. I am referring to U.S. Minimum wage for employees.

Which code will be deducted first, this or Randyftw?

I believe it is the earlier expiration, so this one, 4/14 v 4/16

Says promo code is invalid.

I think it’s LETSEATS5 (similar to the previous one LETSEATS16).

Now, it says I’m not eligible lol.

You need to be targeted for this one.

veeRob

This code didn’t work for me but when I opened the app it gave me a much longer code to put in, and that worked for $5 off. Didn’t write the code down since I figured it’d be targeted anyway.

Doesn’t work. Targeted maybe or first time users

Seems this is more valuable than the 13% for Amex PT unless they stacked. Yep the value of Uber credit is becoming a liability for the Pt card.

Increased fees are likely due upcoming IPO.

Talking with both small restaurant as well as drivers and it’s a breakeven at best. But not tipping is going to effect Uber at least not for sometime.

Is Uber even profitable? Or do private shareholders and investors even care. In many ways it reminds me of the euphoria of the dot.com era.

I share the comparison to the dot-com era. (More recently, I think of MoviePass.) It’s clear to me that most (or all?) of these companies are losing money as they battle for market share.

I’ve considered buying “put options” on some of the companies, but Doordash is still private currently, Postmates very small (Growth potential?), and Uber Eats is a very small division of Uber itself, (Taxis have a much more concrete demand.)***

Considering how far along investors funded Movie-Pass, I’ll only be willing to invest a very small amount of play money in such a gamble.

*** Additionally, drone’s could also decrease these companies expenses at some point, but not happening wide-scale anytime soon.
