U.S. Bank To Launch Two New Altitude Cards

Sources indicate that US Bank will release two new Altitude branded cards to replace the Flexperks cards which are going away. We don’t know much about the cards other than the fact that they will be Altitude branded; seems US Bank is shifting to putting all of their flagship cards under that name. The new cards will have various annual fees, we’ll know more in the coming weeks/months.

damn no olympics promo huh? I’ve been timing my applications to line up for the flex for the olympics boost!

Yeah probably “no olympics-promo” but maybe they’ll have a “no-olympics promo”.

They sent me a survey about this. It seemed to compared the existing Altitude Reserve card vs a new version. The new version has slightly higher rewards and some premium benefits (GoGo WIFI, Radisson upgrade, Clear, etc). No sign up bonus mentioned though for either card. Oh, and the redemption value was hinting at only 1.0cpp on the new version.

I did a survey on the new card. Likely to have radisson status. An REI discount. A $495 annual fee. 5x restaurants. 2x mobile wallet. And 1x RTR on travel.

It fucking sucks.

huge deval if true and lots of people would cancel if true – 3x mobile payments is why everyone got it in the first place.

Hope they count these new cards as fully separate from the original altitude and allow a second signup bonus.

Biggest issue I have with this card is the requirement to have a US Bank checking account. I don’t want another checking account!

This is incorrect as I have the altitude reserve and the only other US bank card I had was the cash plus

you can just close the checking account after you get the card. WOW so much effort just to fill an online application, then close the account a few months later.

Collecting $700 from opening a personal and Biz account then passing Go and opening a USB AR card – worth all the trouble. Plus the AR SUB a beautiful thing.

I was planning to apply for Cash+ card, but now I’ll put that to hold. I’ll see how these new cards will fare.

I wish they make it easier for people over 20/24 to have a shot at approval.

And some banks are conservative and they do not want the business of people with 50 credit cards because they know their card will be in the sock drawer or closed after the bonus is earned. Or they think people with 25-50 accounts are higher risk? I don’t know but not every bank is dumb enough to get bent over a million times by people who are likely just bonus chasing and not making the bank money. Still, I am fine with anyone making money from the banks as a hobby and have no problem with that and think it’s smart.

That’s one of the reasons they can leave the benefits alone – they’re not letting any hippos into the AYCE buffet line

I’m really hoping the current Altitude Reserve card won’t be devalued with the addition of these new cards.

Same. Just got this card in November and I’m loving it so far. Would hate to see it lose any features.

Although don’t want to see it…It will happen as CSR AF increased, AMEX Platinum AF increased and so on. Not if just a matter of when.

Well those cards have different value propositions. I’d rather they keep the skinny priority pass and the lower fee than go off building Altitude Clubs in minnesota
