Verizon has announced some changes to Verizon Up rewards. The biggest change is that the $3-$10 gift card monthly rewards will be discontinued on 5/1/22. Device dollars will also expire on 6/30/22 or 24 months from when originally claimed. Verizon claims the changes are to make things easier, but these just seem like negative changes across the board.
There’s a code available for a free box of tea from Sipsby. Shipping is free.
Thanks.
I received several emails from Verizon Up to spend my reward dollars before they expire so I use my Verizon Up reward last week inside/under the VZ Up Rewards ‘tab’ and ordered a phone charger. Instead of receiving confirmation that my reward money was used, I was charged full amount on my next billing! When I chatted with billing regarding this error, their response was that my purchase doesn’t qualify for VZ Up reward use as the can clearly see what’s is ‘now’ posted as qualified items. Now I have to go in person to Verizon store to return item for credit and forfeit my earned Reward Dollars. What a bait and Switch!
I think you’re confused. The accessories shown in the Up Rewards area do not use your Device Dollars. They are merely sold at a (supposedly) discounted price. You need to purchase from the regular Verizon website to use your Device Dollars. I’m not sure how they get applied because I’ve never used them that way.
No gift card or VD this month, but you can get the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in your name :).
The devaluation of Verizon Up, the 30 month change on upgrade cycle, and the end of my 24 month credit for opening Verizon card in June 2020… Making it easy to say goodby. The area I’m in does just fine with TMobile and AT&T. Long gone are the days of Verizon being most reliable, so the extremely expensive service no longer supports staying. Two middle fingers UP to Verizon.
Damn, went to claim my monthly $5 “device dollars” and got slapped with this news which I somehow missed… and the Verizon Visa credits end this month too, so my bill just got about $10 more expensive.
Looks like I’m switching cell service providers.
Also changing program name to Verizon Down
I have to believe if the replacement was better they would have announced it at the same time.
I’d assume they are also discontinuing the $5/month Verizon Dollars you get if you have their Visa – which is a $60/year instant devaluation of the card, ugh.
I’ve been meaning to switch to their prepaid plan for a few months now – this will accelerate that effort.
Already devalued and not clearly stated by VZW: the $3 GC’s used to be redeemable for Amazon, Starbucks and many other useful outlets. They’re now limited to just four: AMC, Barnes & Noble, TJ Maxx and Panera. I made the mistake of redeeming as usual this month and have no use for any of these.
Slim pickings this month, the only other options I see are a GB of data, $10 off an accessory, or a $5 donation in Verizon’s name.
I guess P2 gets a marginally subsidized you pick two.
I used to get the Starbucks one. I only have TJ Max in my area, and I gave up on going in because they never have anything good.
I’m locked into a contract for a few more months but after that I’m switching.
All the more reason to switch to a lower cost carrier. Paying $10/month/person with 1 GB each or $20/month/person with 3.3 GB each. Xfinity Mobile by the gig plans have same exact service as pricier VZW plans, just different data allotment
When you say the by the gig plans are the same does that mean the unlimited plans are not prioritized aka get lesser service than the unlimited Verizon plans?
I was set to switch a month or two ago to Xfinity but an issue came up where we may need to add parents to our plan but it keeps getting delayed. I’m also considering switching to unlimited if I can find a good plan to use my new phone as a hotspot as I may be working from the road more often this summer.
This is what xfinity says about hotspots – “It includes 4G LTE data, 5G access where coverage is available, and 600 kbps personal hotspots. When 5G-capable Xfinity Mobile devices are connected to 5G, secondary devices on personal hotspots will also have the fastest possible speeds.”
Exactly, that’s what I gleaned from reddit.com/r/nocontract. By the gig plans Xfinity plans have top priority along with verizon’s pricier plans. Xfinity’s unlimited plans have the lower priority same as verizon prepaid, visible, etc
