Visa Checkout has been a payment option on some sites since 2013, when it first launched we saw a lot of promotions pushing the payment solution but that has slowly dried up. In 2017 Visa checkout was added as an option in Google Pay (called Android Pay) but 9to5 Google noticed that Visa Checkout was removed from the support account & services area of Google Pay support. It turns out that Visa Checkout will be shutting down sometime in 2020.
Hat tip to MtM
While I did not get any promos, I have appreciated the text messages when certain Visa cards were used.
I could never figure out how Visa Checkout would benefit me, so I never used it.
Verified by Visa, on the other hand, has helped me on several occasions, but only some card issuers participate (Chase and NFCU do not).
Verified by Visa does work with chase cards, but Chase chose to implement it as approve all rather than verify, which kind of defeat the purpose of verified by visa.
For a while Chase was blocking international online transactions until you called the number on the back of your card, talked to a US customer service rep, then talked to a verifications rep (in the Philippines) who would ask you to repeat the denied transaction and would let it go through while you were still on the phone. I stopped using Chase cards for international online transactions after two of those cumbersome experiences. Verified by Visa is so much better.
This was useful to buy Costco cash card from Costco while trying to meet spend on amex cards. sigh
Wow.. I had no idea it was still around.
Few days ago, I was trying to add an Amex card to Visa Checkout, and it kept saying “enter valid Visa card number”, then I tried Discover and Mastercard, the issue persists. Only Visa card can be add to the wallet. I guess this explains why.

Chase pay?
Apple Pay?
A really worthless Samsung pay? John 3:16
Samsung pay worthless? I don’t think so. For in-store purchases, it’s fantastic, as with the MST technology it works at virtually any place you can swipe a card, unlike the fraction of places that support NFC (Google Pay/Apple Pay).
I have a newer but cheap-end Samsung smartphone. Samsung Pay won’t work. Told me. LOL.
So, yeah, useless Samsung Pay.
.
It is the secret weapon for the couple of people with the US Bank Altitude Reserve. (3x on everything= 4.5% on flights)
Not worthless at all. Even for those who do not have Altitude reserve. SamPay works everywhere. People found a way to use it even on gas pumps where you need to insert the card. Holds up to 10 CCs. I find it super useful for small purchases with reward checking account small debit purchases, so I do not have to carry a debit card that accesses thousands at the ATM if I loose it. Mark 12:19
Samsung pay?
Google Pay. I like their basically instant debit to debit fee free transfers as well as the ability to use them to manufacture DDs to meet bank bonus requirements.
How do you use google pay to manufacture DDs?
Ali Baba Pay is gonna take over one day.
Not if WeChat Pay gets there first!
They should have tried another promotion 20% off on staples.com before closing shop. Why give up so soon?
I always thought it was pretty useless… outside of the promotional discounts.
