[DEAD?] Walmart Shipping Pass for $1, Free Shipping with No Minimum for a Full Year [Limited Time]

Update: If you got in on this deal, you won’t receive the shipping pass but you will receive a $50 gift card.

Walmart is trying to compete with Amazon’s hugely successful Prime subscription service which offers free delivery with no minimum purchase among other benefits at a cost of $99 per year. Walmart is now rolling out a similar service for walmart.com purchases at a cost of $50 per year which will offer free 3-day shipping.

Currently, they have a deal going on with which you can buy the membership for just $1. We don’t know how long this will last, I’d suggest heading over there now and just buying the  membership for $1.

Important note: The Walmart system will automatically re-enroll you after the year is up, so be sure to cancel the re-enroll option. There’s supposed to be a way to opt out of auto re-enroll, but I had trouble doing so and I just bought the membership; I’ll worry later about opting out of the second-year cost.

This is an email I just received from WM:

___________

Dear shopper,

Whoa! Was that unlimited shipping for a year for $1? Well, the truth is that you found a link to an employee-only test of our unlimited shipping program. Unfortunately, this one isn’t yet ready for its public debut, because we want to test and make sure it’s up to snuff. You might have seen in the press that we are in the midst of planning a pilot of free, unlimited shipping for just $50 a year. So here’s the deal…we’re going to add you to the waitlist for an invitation to the pilot AND we’re giving you a $50 eGift card that you can use to buy that special something you’ve been thinking about. Oh, and we’ll refund your $1 subscription. Anything you already ordered will be on the way with no shipping charge. We’re sorry for the confusion on this one.

Please look for a separate email within the next 24 hours that will include your eGift card.

For additional assistance, please go to http://help.walmart.com. Please do not reply to this email as the mailbox is not monitored.

Warm regards,

William Charles
