Our Verdict

KN95 are not as good as N95, but still better than the other regular masks. This works out to be $2 per mask, more expensive than the no name ones obviously. You can find more facemask deals by clicking here.

I got mine but I’m very disappointed with the quality, the earpieces fall off easily which makes me wonder if it is even protecting me at all. Some of the masks already had tears in them too. Bo’er KN95. I think I’ll stick to made in Canada or USA. This product seems very cheap

Has anyone gotten a shipment yet? I did two orders where they both generated a tracking number but no activity on it even a week later

Got my order yesterday. I’m in California and they shipped it from Chino, California. East-West Global INC is on the shipping label.

I bought some of these previously and they are of good quality for the price.

Anyone has experience with this specific manufacturer? My understanding is KN95 standard masks could be as useful and efficient, if you buy from trusted sources that go through proper testing. The Costco deal a couple of weeks ago comes from BYD, which is a trustworthy brand.

If you plan on spending extra for N95s or KN95s, it’s probably worth checking to see whether that masks you’re buying are FDA-authorized PPE under the COVID-19 Emergency Use Authorization. You can find the list of authorized masks (which is continuously updated) here: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19-emergency-use-authorizations-medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-euas

And if you’re going that far, might as well buy the headband KN95s (e.g. 3M 9502+ instead of the ear loop ones which can still leak air from the sides)

Newegg has had 20 kn95s for $30 for a while now. They’re the same things and are worth it.

The KN95 masks I’ve seen are the earloop design, vs. N95 seems to usually have straps that go behind the head. My N95 masks are tight, and uncomfortable to wear for a long time. I like the earloop style which is easier to put on and take off, and more comfortable (at least for the masks I’ve tried). But maybe the tighter fit gives more protection; but even the earloop KN95 is probably still better protection than a cloth mask or cheap surgical mask.

Respirators are uncomfortable because you need to create a seal in order to create a negative pressure environment to force inhaled air through the mask material. Otherwise, you’re just inhaling contaminated air. This is why fit-testing is so important. I get it, they’re uncomfortable, but not nearly as uncomfortable as getting sick.

Sidenote: the above is also one of the reasons the government decided not to recommend the general public wear N95 respirators…because the general public is often dumb, lazy, and/or unwilling to use the damned things properly.

Headband KN95s (3M 9502+) are in between the N95 and earloop in terms of comfort and seal. They seal a bit less than N95 but a lot more than the shitty ear loop ones). They’re way more comfortable than both N95s and ear loop KN95s in my opinion.
