Our Verdict

Easy money if you get the offer. Presumably this will only show for someone who does not already have a Discover card saved in their Amazon account; even then, it might be targeted. There are similar offers for Mastercard, American Express, and debit cards.

We’ll add this to our Complete Guide To Saving Money On Amazon (Save 8% – 27%+).

Not eligible. Going by the comments, only my account seem to be not targeted.. 🙂 I had this offer last year though.

Get the offer on two of my Amazon accounts. I have two Discover cards (It and It Miles). So, I added one CC to each account to take advantage of the offer. I have not ordered anything yet.

Different deal, but I also got an email Tuesday evening from Discover to get 5% back up to $500 (i.e. up to $25) on Amazon purchases. Valid only for March 1-31. Stipulation is can only activate this through email.

(email subject line was: “[Name], activate now to earn 5% cash back”)

Fine print: “Activate to earn 5% Cashback Bonus® at Amazon.com from 3/1/22 (or the date on which you activate 5%, whichever is later) through 3/31/22, on up to $500 in purchases. This offer is different from the 5% Cashback Bonus® program. Enrolling here does not confirm enrollment in the 5% program. Amazon.com purchases include those made through the Amazon.com checkout, like digital downloads, Amazon Fresh orders, Amazon Local Deals, Amazon Prime subscriptions and items sold by third party merchants through Amazon.com’s marketplace. Also includes in-store at Amazon Go, Amazon Bookstore, and Amazon 4-Star. Amazon, the Amazon.com logo, the smile logo and all related marks are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Listed merchants are in no way sponsoring or affiliated with this program. Purchases must be made with merchants in the U.S. To qualify for 5%, the purchase transaction date must be before or on the last day of the offer or promotion. For online purchases, the transaction date from the merchant may be the date when the item ships. Rewards are added to your account within two billing periods. Discover makes every effort to include all Merchant Identification Numbers (MIDs). Even if a purchase appears to fit in this promotion, it may not qualify if the merchant has a Merchant Identification Number (MID) that falls outside of the description of this promotion. Discover Card does not create MID category descriptions for this merchant. Third-party payment accounts and digital wallet transactions do not qualify to earn 5% cash back. Learn more at Discover.com/digitalwallets. See Cashback Bonus Program Terms and Conditions for more information.” William Charles Chuck

Thanks much, was able to add my card and do this $10 discount right away. About 1 year ago I did the Discover $10 credit the first time (and tried many times in between but was “ineligible”). Note that you need to pay with Discover card too, not gift card balance or another credit card.

I already had 2 Discover It linked, and did a previous offer, but it looks like the code applies for me without having to link/unlink a card.
