Chase recently increased the annual fee on the Aeroplan card from $95 to $195, along with enhanced benefits. Now people are seeing the Pay Yourself Back redemption rate to offset the annual fee increased from 1.25 cents per point to 2 cents per point.
Pay Yourself Back is a notable feature of the Chase Aeroplan card, with the ability to cash out points at 1.25 cents per point against Travel charges.
They also allow Pay Yourself Back to offset the annual fee. Previously, this was at 1.25 cents per point, and starting 10/4/26 they are offering 2 cents per point.
After factoring in this new PYB rate, the increased annual fee from $95 to $195 is only slightly more costly in terms of points: previously it cost 7,600 points to offset the $95 fee and now it costs 9,750 points to offset the $195 fee. And you get all the new benefits that were added. Nice development here.
