[YMMV] Bank of America: Sign Up For A New Amazon Business Account & Get 20% Off ($100 Maximum Discount)

Update 2/20/19: People are reporting seeing this offer advertised when on the Bank of America small business website (lots of people were on this page looking for the $500 business checking bonus). Hat tip to reader Quango.

Reposting as there is now a direct link to offer. Not 100% clear if you still need to be targeted or not. (ht to reader Yoni)

The Offer

Direct link to offer (our affiliate) should pop up when you log into your Bank of America account. Most likely targeted towards business card holders

  • Register for a Free Amazon Business account and receive 20% off your first $500

The Fine Print

  • Offer expires earlier of 11:59 p.m. (PT) March 28, 2019 or while supplies last, and eligible customers must register by this date.
  • The promotional credit is valid through April 30, 2019 and must be redeemed on purchases by this date.
  • Offer is only available to customers who register by clicking through the link provided by Bank of America and been verified for a new Amazon Business Account To register, follow the instructions provided in the offer.
  • Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services LLC (look for “sold by Amazon.com” or “sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
  • Shipping charges and taxes may apply to discounted and free promotional items.
  • Offer limited to one per customer and account.
  • Offer may not be combined with other offers.
  • The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $100.

Our Verdict

Nice deal if you get it. Reminds me of the similar deals you get when you move house or create a baby registry. This will be added to the complete list of ways to save money on Amazon as well.

I found it in my account under offers

And do you have business cards or accounts with BofA?

How involved is the process to register an Amazon Business account? I have a “business” (small time ebay seller – emphasis on small). I have a few biz credit cards, but havent needed to supply any supplemental documentation of proof of business while applying as sole prop. Does Amazon have any special needs?

Chuck

I believe I’ve seen that it’s an easy process, but I haven’t yet tried it myself.

Can I ask what credit cards you have that didn’t need documentation for your business?

MICHAEL T HOLLIS

In my personal experience, only AMEX cards of all flavors haven’t requested any confirmation. Fortunately, I have it available if they DID need it. I’ve never had to furnish it though.

DP and question: I clicked the link above and registered for Amazon Business on Amazon’s website. For verification, they asked for any business credit card. I entered my ink cash info and voila, business verified. Step 2 on the above Amazon page says I’ll receive a code for 20% off on $500 after business is verified. So waiting for it.
Question is: BOA was completely absent from this entire process. Didn’t even login into my BOA account. What did I miss?

Will be interesting to see if you get it…I used my BoA business card to verify. Didn’t get instant verification on mine, but my card is only ~1 month old so…

Update for me: No code, no email, no nothing. Not sure I will bother tracking this one down as it appears that it was a targeted offer. Don’t feel like pulling teeth for $100 I shouldn’t receive anyways.

Chuck

I wouldn’t be surprised if this will work even for non-BofA customers. Please keep us updated!

Chuck
The link I sent you and Will.
I tested it incognito and the landing was a BofA page (wasn’t logged in – hit landing page for redirect to a 3rd party notification and it to click to proceed).
Likely it’s just a generic BofA referral link- and it like many of the other Adverts/Deals from BofA.)

Chuck

Right, I got the link from you. Let me add a HT. I hope it works for everyone. I hope to try it out myself, haven’t had a chance yet.

After registered and verified, just need to wait the email for the code?

Someone’s surely going to ask, but VISA gift cards and 3rd party gift cards are sold by amazon payments and ACI, not “Amazon.com” or “Amazon Digital Services LLC”

Registered via offer available through BofA. Not clear how the discount will be delivered. Any idea?

Received code today.

Did the code come from Amazon or BOA?

No promo code yet— got emails that I’m registered. Looks like no bueno

C

I only got my registration email 5 days after signing up, and no promo code yet for me, either. The email does refer to ‘three emails over the next week’, so I am hoping one will be the promo (not sure what would prevent it, as I clicked through, but it had also been crickets since I signed up the 5 business days ago that should have resulted in the code).

I’m in the same boat as well. Not clear who to contact either but I’ll probably try reaching out to Amazon if I don’t see anything in the next couple days.

vipul

Contacted amazon chat, after half an hour of explaining, they said I will get an email from the promotions team in 1 business day.

vipul
vipul

Update: got a message from the promotions team that the promo has been applied to my account and the discount will reflect when I place an order. It didn’t and I emailed them back. Finally they said I could place an order and contact them to get a refund of 20%. Painful process.

Look like we need to contact amazon support.

Seems like it. Have now received the emails, but no promo code.

Anyone receive the discount yet who has not used a BofA business card to verify with Amazon?

Jx

I used BOA biz card to verify, don’t get the discount yet.

I bought $100 worth of Uber gift cards and then did the balance of $400 in Amazon gift cards–with the free socks. Got the 20% off. It didn’t work unless I did at least $100 in third-party gift cards.

Alex
Alex

Tried to replicate but no luck. Did you get any code or at least any indication that your account had a coupon applied?

Darv
Darv

Yes I received a code. The code is entered at checkout. Once the code is entered you can keep tinkering with the cart. After a little while I figured out the limits. I tried $500 Amazon gift card initially, did not work. Then tried third party cards, those worked. Then tried third party and Amazon and it worked but only if first $100 is third party gift cards. If you get the code it should work.

Alex
Alex

Thank you for the details!
Did you have to contact Amazon for the code or did they send it to you automatically?
I had the offer show in my BofA account and registered through that link using BofA AS Business card. Have not received the code yet. It’s been 13 days so far. I did get the 3 emails but that’s all so far.
I think this is the issue most of us facing with this promo.

tribesman55

Exact same situation as you and still no code yet.

tribesman55

Did your code arrive from Amazon or BOA?

Darv

Amazon. Subject: “Subject: Congratulations – here’s 20% off your first $500 spent on Amazon Business”

Jess
Jess

Something to mention when trying to get your code:
The promotional credit is valid through April 30, 2019
I would much rather have the code than to have it applied to my cart automatically.

Are people still waiting for the codes?

According to one BofA rep, you need to use the same email for your Amazon Business account as the one associated with your BofA business card. So I went through the hassle of setting up a 2nd Amazon business account- we’ll see if the code actually comes through this time.

Did you get a code yet?

No dice. Guess it’s back to CSR hell.

I tried registering a second time as well with the email address associated with my BofA business card, been 5 business days as well and no code. I’m over it this deal is a pita.

tribesman55

Finally got my code today after registering a 2nd time like you. Took their sweet time.

I finally got a solution, fyi. After a phone cal and two chats with Amazon agents, I was given a $100 promotional credit for any products that are sold and shipped by Amazon. No expiration date. I never received any emails after the welcome email.

Alex
Alex

I signed up on October 14. The offer was available in my BofA account. I received 3 emails but not the code. Never had the time to follow up. Today out of the blue I got the email with the code. Only took 7 weeks but glad I didn’t have to waste time with customer support.
