Our Verdict
We saw a previous offer last year and we’ve also seen point upgrade offers of up to 50,000 points as well. How useful this offer will depend on how you value Marriott status. Given the constant devaluations and changes without notice I’d argue that status isn’t worth much, but others will disagree.

Weird time to offer it – Gold is pretty worthless as a status (I should know, I am Marriott Gold), and I’d think those who would pull the trigger if it meant the difference between something like Gold and Plat wouldn’t know this early in the year if it is worth it.
Trust me, Platinum is pretty worthless in itself too!
Devaluation is one thing, but ‘changes without notice’ is untrustworthy and that’s what now makes this program worthless for the exception of mile transfer.
