The Fine Print

Our Verdict

Looks like the purchases need to be made at restaurants. Not sure if you can stack it with the other Chase Pay deal or not.

Just checked, sent you guys a screen shot, it’s under merchants and I clicked Five Guys to get it to show. Looks like once you load the merchants list it’s attached to each one.

Can you send me a copy of the screen shot from the Nov 1st Chase post? Thank u

$5 min per order. Limit one credit per user. Ends 11/30 or until offer runs out. Credit valid for 30 days.

If Chase thinks all of these deals are convincing me to use Chase Pay, they’re wrong. I’ll use them for 5x on the CF and deals like this, but certainly not something I’ll use in a normal day.

The real solution would be to offer ongoing perks, much like the red card does for Target. Give us a cut of the action for bypassing whatever it is that’s saving them money for us to use it. I suppose the major hurdle is partnering with merchants who will take it, giving it more widespread use.

I am confused with the language of this offer. Does it mean:

1) I will get $10 off from an order of $5+ from one of the supporting restaurants? And I can repeat get $10 off 3 times during the month?

OR 2) I will have to first use Chase Pay 3 times at a “participating” restaurant on an order of $5+ to earn $10 meal credit? And then I can use that $10 meal credit at a “participating” restaurant?

Also, can I stack this offer with $5 off first order?

Does anyone know if I can reload starbucks 3x for $5 to get the $10?

I can’t even log into Chase Pay App. I have no problem logging into Chase App. They shoudl make it a single app. I have already wasted 15 minutes tyring to resolve. I don’t think its worth any more effort. Somehow whatever account chase pay is trying to initialy connect to when I log in needs to send me a code but that account has no contact incoformatin to send me the code. Odd.

I get that verification code when I log in to a new device but if I set it to remember me, I never have to get the verification again with that device. I set mine up with fingerprint log in.

Linda

@Chaser123 Having the same code issue. It says I have to call the number on the back of my card, even though I have the regular Chase app installed and never had to go through this. Probably not worth the hassle.

Jack
Jack

@Linda @Chaser123 Does your Chase log in contain business accounts like a credit card or anything? If so, that could prevent you from logging into Chase Pay. Business accounts are not supported and may have to be separated.

Linda
Linda

@Jack Nope, just personal credit cards and a new checking account.

Tried this and haven’t seen a credit

If the restaurant shows as a participant in the bonus, then yes. But when this was on in previous months, Starbucks was not one of the promo restaurants. BTW, many (but not all) of these Chase Pay restaurants are also Level Up merchants. And you should be able to use Chase Pay at most Level Up locations

Closertothesun

Am I reading this right that it has to be 3x at the same restaurant? If so, what restaurants have people been able to get? I will look shortly and add if I see anything other than 5 guys.

I guess you read it wrong?

In Chase Pay, you must find a participating o\place and open it. The offer is only available once you open the business. None of the places near me are worth $5.00 out of pocket after reward. I have done Potbellies twice in previous offers . Meh

Samsung Pay: Built so merchants can accept it with no change to systems.
Chase Pay: Built so merchants have to install elaborate new hardware and software solutions to accept it, even though it doesn’t benefit them. Oh, and it’s a pain for users, too. Once when I used it at a gas station, it triggered a fraud hold on all my Chase cards that took multiple calls to resolve.

Chase Pay is pretty useless to me. Where I live there are 3 choices: a bubble tea place (no interest whatsoever), Starbucks (never patronize) and Five Guy’s (closest one is 20 minutes away).

I assume other locations have more offerings?

Brandon
Brandon

The only Chase Pay restaurants I have in my area is Five Guy’s .. But I know Potbellys (in the Midwest) accepts Chase Pay … if you like sandwiches and oreo shakes

About 15 different restaurants within 5 miles for me (and multiples of many).

The most common locations are Shell gas stations. Use requires a lengthy, and annoying to other customers, multi-step process.

Shell gas stations are restaurants?

I have a great Indian restaurant nearby that accepts CP. They’re a mom-and-pop, not part of a chain, and really good. Other than Starbucks and Five Guys (I patronize neither) that’s the only CP-accepting restaurant around me.

If you load Starbucks 3 times for $5 each time do you think that’ll work?

Leo

Depends if Starbucks have the in-app offer in your area, I suppose. Starbucks don’t have the offers in my area, but plenty of other restaurants do.

Starbucks allows you to reload via ChasePay in the Starbucks app, but does that qualify?

weiskel
weiskel

I would appreciate a DP on that as well. I’m pretty sure Starbucks reloads qualify for the “Use ChasePay 5x and get 1,500 UR points” promo, but that has different T&Cs.

Zorn
Zorn

I can give you a DP – any kind of Starbucks GC reload *does not* trigger these credits.

Mikey
Mikey

Interesting thought! But I opened the CHASE Pay app and none of the Starbucks (or SHELL stations, for that matter) showed any offer as available. Cheapest option for using the offer is El Pollo Loco.

Mikey
Mikey

Don’t like the phrasing of “or until offers run out”. My course of action under these circumstances is to only order from a participating restaurant if I would do so anyway, and to then use CHASE Pay if I do, which would probably happen anyway since it qualifies as a 5% Freedom category.

Only order ahead has worked for me. Scan the QR code instore wasn’t working for me at Potbelly today. I have to use a credit card to pay.

Brandon

Any data points as to if this ‘use chase pay 3x times’ promotion stacks with any of the
– Use Chase Pay 5x get 1,500 UR
– Reload SBUX $20+ three times for 475 stars
???

Any data points are much appreciated

NinjaX
NinjaX

well did you look in ur app? does SBUX show up in order ahead? pretty sure it wont. but u can stack SBUX offer and chase pay but not triple stack with this because its order ahead.

Gerry
Gerry

Lots of data points on this site and others. Yes, works w/ SBUX $20. And if you load $25 (which you should and I didn’t) counts toward the Chase 5x for 1500 UR.

Merchant
Merchant

How do you get 1500 ur from $20?

About to take a trip to NYC. Any way to preview the restaurants that take Chase Pay in NYC?

FC

You can try searching by zip code or look at delivery.com for order ahead, that should be the vendor that helps them process the orders (if I remember correctly)

So I did this offer via order ahead, I work near a 5 guys. I was considering what Will posted about “small” deals making a difference, and decided to analyze if this deal is worth much from a raw calories per $ stand point. I believe the most calorie dense item is the large fries. I looked at a bacon cheeseburger with everything on it as well, but that was more $ for less calories. If you bought large fries via 3 separate orders (5.79 per order), you could then order 2 more orders for $1.58 after the $10 discount. This nets you 5x 1314 = 6570 calories. You’d end up spending 5.79×3 + 1.58 = $18.95. Effectively, youd get 3.285 days of a 2000 calorie diet or about $5.76 a day to eat. Obviously terrible nutritionally, but interesting to consider, at least to me !

Dan
Dan

That’s not how nutrition works at all.

qmc
qmc

How did they come up with 1314 calories? Is that based on what fits in the appropriate sized Large cup? Or the fries you actually get, including the ones spilling out of the bag containing just the large fries?
