Will GCs trigger credit at grocery stores?

Yup, GC works fine at grocery stores for grocery offers. Just be aware that transactions of exactly $100 triggered fraud alerts for me twice which was a bit of a hassle. Azurik

Does anyone know how to track what they owe you? I did this last quarter but still havent see my statement credit come in.

There’s unfortunately no real way to track it other than manually tallying up everything. It usually shows up for me 2-3 months after the promo ends for that month. It’s also kind of weird as it gets backdated to the beginning of your statement date. For example I got a March promo that finally showed up when my June statement closed, but it was dated for May even though it didn’t show up in May.

If you already waited 2-3 months after the end of the promo and it still doesn’t show up, you can contact customer service about it.

If you got an “online purchases” offer sometimes some merchants don’t correctly code as “online” for some reason. You can’t check with the Sears card but if you have another Citi card you can click on a transaction to see the “purchase method” used. The majority of the time it’s “online” when you expect it, but there were a few cases for me where it wasn’t. I never really had an issue with this though.

I got weaker offer this time, 20x max 8000pt only, but already got 20k 2x and 10k 1x since last quarter of 2019, I only got 2k credit limit since 1996, I haven’t use the card for many years except smaller charge like few $ every half year, and it trigger fault alert several times since I really use the card now.

I got 10X bonus ThankYou points for purchases at gas stations, restaurants, and grocery stores of $800 or more per month from 7/1/2020 to 9/30/2020 up to 20,000 bonus points per month. Means I need to spend at least $800/month and up to $2,000/month for purchases at gas stations, restaurants, and grocery stores.

I have put away my Discover It card (5% this quarter at restaurants and PayPal), using it only for PayPal this quarter and using my Sears card instead.

I applied on mid May and got approved for the SYW version. CL is poor, only 1k. But I’ve never got any offer, neither physical letter mails or emails till now. Anyone knows how to get targeted?

just start using the card, let the balances post over month end, and generally offers will start to roll in

Thanks for your info. I’ve spent over $3000 on this card. Not easy with such a low CL. But I paid the balance in advance. So the balance on statement is always 0. I guess I should try to leave some number there.

Ahh, don’t worry about spending a ton on this card if you don’t get any good offers. I don’t believe you need to be super active using this card to get targeted. You can spend a few dollars to keep it active if you’re worried, butI left my card unused for ~8 months because I didn’t get any offers and they suddenly started sending me emails for those crazy 10-20% credits.

Does anybody know whether sears card counts Meijer as grocery? Citi excluded it in terms in the first quarter.

I don’t have a Meijer nearby but the Sears card doesn’t usually have any tricky exclusions. As long as it codes as grocery it should be fine in my experience. You can do test purchase and see what it comes up as once it posts.

Do you have the Shop Your Way Mastercard version? These offers being sent out via email and mail, on the Shop Your Way Mastercard version, do they earn a statement credit or do they earn Shop Your Way that can only be used at Sears?

Product change from SYW to TY looks like no longer works. So, If the SYW version earns statement credit on all these offers being sent out, then I don’t mind applying for the card. But would like to confirm that before I submit an application.

Received 10x on $800+. Since Covid, I’ve reduced my spending and am already sitting on over $1k in gift cards. I don’t see anything good to burn my Thank You points on unless its travel, and I’m not going anywhere until there is a vaccine available. I likely will sit this quarter out.
