Stash Invest: $50 Bonus For Direct Depositing $300+, Works For Existing & New Customers

Update 2/10/20: Deal is available until March 31st, 2020.

This was previously marked as YMMV, but stash has reached out to let us know this is available to both new & existing users.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Stash Invest is offering existing & new customers a bonus of $50 when they direct deposit deposit $300+

The Fine Print

  • To be eligible for this Promotion, you must (i) have both a Stash Invest account and a Stash Debit account (a.k.a. a Stash banking account) in good standing (as defined below) as of the Effective Date or any date thereafter, AND (ii) have one or more direct deposits of at least $300, in aggregate, post from your paycheck(s) to your Stash Debit account during any thirty (30) day period following the Effective Date. If you satisfy the conditions stated in the previous sentence, Stash will make a one-time deposit of fifty dollars ($50.00) into the cash balance of your Stash Invest account in accordance with these Promotion Terms.
  • For example, if you open a new Stash Invest account and Stash Debit account on December 5, 2019, and receive a paycheck twice per calendar month and set up two direct deposits so that at least $150 from each paycheck (for a total of $300) is posted to your Stash Debit account within any thirty (30) day period following December 5, 2019 (e.g. January 1, 2020 through January 31, 2020), you would qualify for a one-time cash reward of $50 into your Stash Invest account.
  • You are only eligible to participate in this Promotion if you receive this Promotion directly from Stash. You are only eligible to receive one cash reward under this Promotion. The cash reward will be deposited into your Stash Invest account within thirty (30) calendar days from the date you satisfy the conditions stated herein. The cash reward deposited by Stash is a fixed cash value and does not constitute stock or any other security, nor is it a recommendation to buy any specific stock or other security. The cash reward must remain in your Stash Invest account for ninety (90) days beginning from the date the cash reward is deposited into your Stash Invest account and for the entirety of the 90-day period, which shall be determined by Stash in its sole discretion.

Our Verdict

You can get a new user bonus of $25, so this is an additional $50. Not sure how widely targeted this is, or what counts as a direct deposit. Might as well try doing this deal if you’re eligible as you already have an open account and really nothing to lose.

The bonus goes into the invest account but the DD has to go to the spend account

P1/P2 employer DDs posted a few weeks ago. Sent message asking if requirements were met a week ago, received reply saying they had verified the account and “triggered” the bonus, and the bonus showed up yesterday. As stated above, can’t withdraw for 90 days per terms.

Sounds like your DP lines up with their terms… bonus is to post 30 days after completing requirement.

Also, I just want to point out the 90 day period doesn’t have to leave the cash in the checking account. There is a separate paragraph in the T&C that state there is no minimum requirement for that account, so we could invest the balance if one would prefer to do so.

Has anyone successfully tried Square Cash/PayPal/Alternative DD methods?

Bonus is only $47. It’s $50 that can’t leave the account for 90 days and you pay a minimum of $1 a month.

Thanks. The monthly fee is not listed above and should be as it typically is in posts here.

No credit check. It says when completing the application. SSN is asked to confirm identity.

Transfers from Chase did not trigger DD. Will update if anything changes.

I didn’t try the other alternates, but sent $300 from my discover checking on 1/3 and it cleared Stash on 1/6… it took me a few days to notice because of the way the website is setup, but I now have $50 in my portfolio as available for investing and I found by clicking your name in the top right, you’ll get to a settings menu where you can find “portfolio activity” with better details than the other tabs have.

My “Spend” account indicates “Discover Bank-Prearrange” and the “portfolio activity” indicates the following details with ID redacted:

Type: Promo Credit
Date: Jan 7
Amount: $50.00
Funding Source: Cash Balance Transfer
Status: Completed
ID: ########

where did you find the routing and account number for the ACH from Discover?

From the spend screen I clicked direct deposit and it asks you to search for employer, but if it can’t find anyone it just provides this link to download a copy of the generic info.

How do you find the Account Number though? Mine only shows the last 4 digits.

Just to confirm, you added Stash to your Discover external accounts and pushed $300 in from the Discover side?

How do you know whether you have a Stash debit account or not? How to open one? I had a Stash investing account but closed it last month.. when I log in I see there’s an easy option to reactivate it.

Now with the datapoint that Discover checking works. I’m wondering and thinking it might be worth it.

Swagbucks has a 2000 offer for this right now. Gotcha, actually this is mentioned in the hyperlink post. My bad.

Tried to do this and it “failed” to upload by DL and SS card. As well as, my funding source timed out.
Big fail and waste of time.

So it seems to be go swabuck way there is no bonus for direct deposit?

Kyle ❤️

I signed up through Swagbucks, got the bonus from Swagbucks and the $5 bonus from stash. I also have the offer for the deposit bonus as well.

are you referring to the $50 bonus?

No way to triple dip? Mint offers and extra 10 if you sign up thru them

Kyle ❤️

11/21/2019 Signed up through Swagbucks for the 2000 SB offer
11/21/2019 Deposited $5 into the Spend account and $5 into the Invest account
11/22/2019 Promo Credit of $5 in Invest account
12/23/2019 Received 2000 SB
12/19/2019 Transferred $300 from Chase to Spend account
01/17/2020 Transferred $300 from Discover to Spend account
01/18/2020 Promo Credit $50 in Invest account (It is dated 1/18 but I don’t think it actually showed up until 1/21)

Pretty sure Chase did not trigger and more likely that Discover did. Per the terms it says the promo credit should stay in the invest account for 90 days. I will keep the account open until that time which will cost me $5 total making this deal a $70 money maker. Thanks DOC.
