$15 Rebate on $200 Visa Gift Card at BedBath&Beyond, Starts 10/25

The Offer

Direct Link

  • Purchase a $200 Visa gift card from BedBath&Beyond and receive a $15 Visa prepaid card via mail-in rebate.

The Fine Print

  • Limit 1 per household
  • Valid 10/25/15 – 10/31/15
  • Must be postmarked by 11/30/15
  • Must mail in rebate form along with receipt and UPC

Our Verdict

The offer is pretty lackluster. After accounting for the $6.95 purchase fee and the $.49 stamp, there isn’t huge profit to be made. And there’s the hassle of mailing in the rebate. As far as I know, BBB does not accept Apple Pay so that route is out. You can try using BBB gift cards to buy the Visa gift card; some have had success with this in the past depending on the cashier/store-policy.

The biggest surprise to me about this offer is that BBB carries $200 Visa gift cards. I don’t think I’ve come across any denomination higher than $100; maybe they recently added it. It seems retailers like carrying Visa gift cards and we saw Staples.com recently add $300 Visa gift cards. Maybe they actually make money on them or else it helps prop up their revenues. In any case, if they are offering a mail-in rebate for the $200 cards, I’d assume that they carry them.

FYI, my $15 gift cards all came in the mail yesterday. Made $8.05 per gift card purchase, plus met some minimum spend requirements.

sent them in on 10/27, received on 11/23. Pretty quick for a mail in rebate.

Jamie,

Did you end up mailing the empty gc? If so, have you heard back from them yet?

After contacting them through chat, they were able to change my rebate from invalid to valid since it said it was missing the UPC.

Instead of a UPC, which was on the gift card, i sent in the packaging. RayB was able to fix it easily.

Found the $200 cards at my local Bed Bath & Beyond, but not sure how you enclose the UPC for the rebate as it is on the actual card and not the packaging.

Was wondering the same thing. Maybe a copy of the UPC on the back of the card would work?

What did you guys end up doing for the UPC? I’m planning on buying this tomorrow if the store stocks it.

I reached out to the rebate customer service folks (a rep named RayB) who said to just send without UPC and then contact them again after they receive the receipt and rebate form and they can process. I asked if it made sense to just send the empty gift card with the barcode and he said “you can do that if you want, but it would be best to do what I advised.”
I think I am still going to mail them the empty gift card in hopes of not having to contact again.

Trevor had it a while back

They always have them stocked in my local store, but pretty useless to me

BBB is a Chase Freedom 5% back store for 2nd quarter (at least some years), which is a bad quarter for MS, unless you have daughters who love H&M. Since the Freedom UR points can be converted to transferable UR points, it’s actually about 11% back.

I respectfully disagree that Chase Freedom in Q2 is a bad quarter for MS. The past 2 years restaurants have been the 2nd category for the Q2 5% category which IMO is a great addition since restaurants is something everyone uses.

i am sure they make money on it.
the issuer makes money on purchase fee + transaction fees + unused portion of the gift card. + they get a free loan until the money is used up.
the store that sells it is definitely getting a cut. if they make 2% that is a good deal for them because inventory costs are minimal.

Some have $200 vgc’s and some don’t. When it was a 5% category for freedom it was talked about quite a bit on flyertalk.
