[Expired] $50 Moneymaker with Software Download at Staples [Visa Checkout + Amex Offer]

Limit exceeded, no longer works

Staples is offering $25 off $100 when paying with Visa Checkout. There’s also an Amex Offer many of us have saved on our cards for $20 off $100. All told you can pay just $80 for $125 of stuff.

Staples.com currently has a software download offer to get a Kaspersky digital download for just $.01 each after Staples Easy Rebate. You’ll pay $45.01 and get a $45 rebate for a net cost of $.01.

There is a  limit of 3 rebates for this deal per name/address/household. Here is the rebate link. (Note: rebate site is spotty today, but rest assured the rebate is there.)

screen-shot-2016-11-24-at-11-16-36-am

To maximize this deal:

  • Start off with a shopping portal – I recommend Upromise for 5% or Mrrebates for 4%
  • Order three software downloads for a total cost of $135
  • Choose Visa Checkout and you’ll see the price drop to $110
  • The Amex Offer will bring down the cost to $90
  • Get $135 back via the rebate
  • Get $4-6 back from the portal
  • Profit: ~ $50

The one issue to keep in mind is that they do charge sales tax even on digital downloads. My workaround has always been to choose a shipping address from a state that doesn’t charge tax like CA, NH, etc. (Just be careful to remove the address afterward from your staples.com account; you may inadvertently ship your next order there.)

Update: Apparently, some states don’t charge tax. Even if it shows sales tax, it might drop from the final charge.

Note there are two Kasperksy deals: one for a digital download and one for a boxed shipment. If you want to avoid tax, you might need to choose the digital version. If you live in a tax-free state then you can choose either one.

From what I understand, the limit-3 on this Staples Rebate is with the digital and boxed SKUs combined, so you can’t do this deal twice (digital and boxed).

There’s a good chance this deal the software download will go out of stock so worth doing sooner rather than later.

might be silly question, but since we bought three units, do we submit rebate three times on rebate website? first time for digital software rebates on staples.

it’s the same for everyone… sadly this is normal for Staples software download rebates… you can email them or do online chat and they will fix for you right away. scroll up in the discussion and read.

this happens every time there is a software download rebate of online rebate for item purchased at in-store kiosk.

My order got canceled without notice. I tried logging into my Staples account but apparently it got shut down. Not sure what I did was wrong. The charge of $135.03 is still showing as pending on ink cash

I had the same thing happen, emailed them https://rebate.staples.com/promocenter/staples/easyrebates?page=email_us.html , and they already fixed it.

“Thank you for contacting the Staples Rebate Center.

I am sorry to read that your rebate is invalid. The reason why this happened is because, the UPC number did not migrate properly from the order details into your record. However, I am pleased to inform you that as a valued customer for Staples I have corrected this for you. Your $135.00 Visa prepaid card should be mailed within the next 15 days to the following address:

The card will arrive active and ready to be used anywhere Visa is accepted. Be sure to swipe it as credit even though it says debit. Also, there will be a website on the back of the card which you can use to follow your balance and transactions. An insert will be included in the envelope with additional card usage tips.

You can also confirm the status by visiting http://www.stapleseasyrebates.com with the tracking number above. Once the card is mailed out the status will change online.

Thank you for contacting the Staples Rebate Center. I hope you have a great day!”

Also, the rebate status now says “Validation in progress.” on the website.

I had the same problem, although it took me a few days before I noticed the e-mail. They resolved it quickly though chat. If you bought this, you may want to check your e-mail for an alert from Staples called “Information about your Easy Rebate.”

I didn’t use the Visa check out or AE offer, I used it to liquidate and consolidate my multiple staples e gift cards. 3% rewards on free after rebate items, previously used 2% rewards credit card to purchase 7.5% discount staples e – gift card.

I wish I saw this earlier since the product itself is now out of stock. I usually wait for Black Friday to buy this AV for myself, my Dad, and my Father-in-law, but it looks like the MS opportunity means I’m a little too late. Hopefully it shows up somewhere else again.

Note the irony of the banner on the Staples web site above these deals:

“Staples Black Friday Deals Sponsored by Visa Checkout”

(except now apparently, the visa checkout promotion only works on regularly priced merchandise)
