Amex Offers: $20 Moneymaker with Sam’s Club PLUS Membership + $100 Free Stuff

The Offer

There’s a targeted Amex Offer for free Sam’s Club membership which was released a month ago, and we’ve covered it previously.

  • Get a $45 statement credit by using your enrolled card to spend $45 or more in a single transaction on a new Sam’s Club Membership
  • Valid through September 30, 2016
  • Valid on new memberships only
  • Only valid for memberships purchased in-club at any Sam’s Club in the USA, not valid online or over the phone

Sam’s Club $20 Bonus Offer

Direct Link (You can also use our affiliate link and we will receive a 5.6% commission, you’ll still get the bonuses list below as well even though it’s not specifically mentioned according to the fine print on our affiliate terms).

There’s another deal going on through September 5 to get a free $20 Sam’s gift card when becoming a Plus member.

  • Buy Sam’s Club Plus membership for the $45 price of standard membership
  • Get a $20 Sam’s Club gift card free
  • Get another $100 worth of stuff (pizza, chocolate, salad) if you’re one of the first 10,000 to join

Just enter you email address here to get an instant coupon for this offer via email. For now, the coupons don’t say anything about the 10,000 limitation so it seems that the $100 free stuff offer will work for anyone.

Our Verdict

Those who got the Amex Offer are being paid $20 to become a Sam’s member, and get that free upgrade to Plus membership. Sam’s Plus members get 2% back on their Sam’s purchases at year’s end, along with some other benefits.

Can’t beat a moneymaker to become a Sam’s member. Some people might even consider buying one personal membership and one business membership, or going along with family members and buying one membership for each so as to net the $20 gift card and other free stuff.

We wrote more tips and thoughts about becoming a Sam’s member in the original post on the Amex Offer.

I bought a new membership with my Blue Cash on 9/4/2016 and have called Amex multiple times about this because they never gave me my credit. Today they told me it wasn’t a “new” membership purchase, even though I never had a Sams Club membership in my life. I’ve emailed Sams Club customer service to see if they would be willing to provide proof that it was indeed a new membership.

Wife used this offer today in combination with the AmexOffer. While the charge is still pending, it seemed to be charged as regular sams club purchase (“Sam’s Club”). When I had used this AmexOffer a few weeks ago on my card, that Membership showed up as “SAMSMEMBRSHP#”

Same here, and no instant email from Amex about using an offer

Posted as Sam’s Club, no amex offer credit. Did a Live Chat and asked representative to look into it.

Amex said the purchase didn’t qualify for the offer. Didn’t feel like fighting Amex, so I got a full membership refund at Sam’s.

I also have the same situation. Signed up in the store yesterday and haven’t got any amex offer confirm email neither, usually it’s right away. I’m guessing maybe the promo code the Sam’s associate keyed in the receipt coded differently from “membership”? I hope that’s not the case. Any ideas?

I didn’t get the usual AMEX sync E-mail either, but I did get the credit on my account today. I signed up at Sam’s last Wednesday. Check your receipt and make sure it says “New Member Sale.”

I was a Sam’s Club member but it expired last year and my son bought a new membership last year (I am on his membership as the extra user).

If I buy this membership in my name, is it a new membership? Can’t remember how long you have to wait before you can be considered “new” again.

Of our various cards, it showed up exclusively on Amex Hiltons.

Spent 30 min at the membership counter today until the employees gave up trying to get the system to take the codes and just gave me the membership for free along with the GC. I checked my instant savings online and the pizza, cookies, and salad all loaded instantly. Works for me!

I had two AmEx offer for $45 one on my card and one on my wife’s card. I got the membership on my card and got the $45 credit as well. However, I used my wife’s card to upgrade to PLUS but the credit never posted even after couple of weeks. So, it looks like AmEX offer is hard coded to only allow credit for NEW membership. Don’t use this offer to upgrade, it won’t work and save yourself some trouble.

sorry to hear that man. that limitation has been well documented by others when the deal came out. its ONLY for NEW memberships. no upgrades. some people tried to pay for the $100 membership via split payment. no good. $100 charged on each CC. headache to fix.

This would be awesome if I were targeted for the $45 offer. Didn’t get it on any of my 6 cards. 🙁
