Chase Sapphire Reserve Application Link is Down [Update: Back Again]

Update: Links are back up, but the 5/24 language that was previously added has been removed.

The online application link for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card is no longer working. Both direct links and affiliate links error out at the Apply Now stage.

We’ve speculated that the 100,000 points online signup bonus might vary so it might be that they are in the process of updating the bonus. We’ll have to wait and see.

i applied at a chase branch — I was preappoved for the card, but I did not get an instant approval. Definitely over 5/24 (probably around 10). When I call in to check I get the — will get decision in 30 days message…. What does this mean?

I meant to write … what does this mean in terms of my chances of ultimately being approved for the card.

Walked in yesterday for an appt with bank manager. I’m at 24+/24. However, I have a smattering of accounts with Chase including personal and biz checking and personal and biz c cards. I didn’t expect much. Within 2 minutes I was approved (after being pre-approved and running my credit). I inquired about my wife. He told me that it was his experience that if a person is pre-approved (and same address), and on the checking account with at least 1 personal credit card with Chase (and good credit history), the spouse is automatically pre-approved. So I gave her a call to come down, and sure enough, after she had been denied a Chase United card last month due to 5/24, and with her also at 24+/24, she was approved in 2 minutes for the CSR………….and being told it would be weeks before the plastic arrived and a month after that for metal.

Weeks for the plastic card? That’s ridiculous, but congratulations on the two approvals.

I applied online on 09/01 and I did not get an instant decision. I got an email back from Chase saying they will let me know of their decision through US mail within the next 30 days. Does this mean i will be declined? Has it happen to anyone else? Has anyone got approved after not getting instantly approved?
Thanks,

Wife was not approved in bank, but Chase banker told her that a way to get pre approved is to have some movement in her Chase accounts like moving credit lines. The banker states that this was the case with a customer and he got pre approved after doing this.

Interesting note: talked to CPC banker yesterday and she said Chase ran out of the metal stock for the card due to the overwhelming response and would be sending out plastic cards. Lo and behold, today I received mine and it is, in fact, plastic.

I am at 3/24 but did not apply yet as i am not sure of a good way to cash out the travel credit of 300$. Does buying gift cards work to get this credit or any other means to cash out the credit even at a loss since i just took a month off recently and may not be traveling soon say until jan 17

I was denied last week (7/24) – does it make sense to still PC the Sapphire Preferred to the CSR?

I doubt the 100k bonus will be there next year when I fall back under 5/24 but would still get value out of it now then PC that CSR to something with no AF then sign-up for the CSR again with the bonus?

Only you can know your spending habits to know if a PC is worth it.

Any DP of anyone getting denied due to 5/24 and then reconsidered and approved?

@leo: me. 7/24, two were AU, one was Ink+, one was 21 month old Banana Republic Visa. Not sure which of these, or the combo, got me through. Applied in branch, denied later same day for two many cards in two years, called recon, asked nicely if AU counted and she said no, i asked nicely if she’d reverify that I was really over limit without AU, she said yes, after a while she approved if I transferred credit. Data points for people way over seem to be in-branch applications where people asked if they were pre approved and found out they were and then applied (as opposed to just applying straight up).

Thanks for sharing. In my case I am way over 5 and none are AU. I didn’t have a pre-approval on my account but applied in branch anyway. Not sure if its a waste of time to call recon or have the banker give me one of those letters…

If only they would bring back a window where 5/24 doesn’t apply. Curses that I missed the week before launch beta site offering.

Did you check in branch for pre-approvals?

Yup. Branch was dry as the Sahara on preapprovals.
