Free $10 Amazon Credit with $20 Amazon Cash Reload

The Offer

Direct Link

Amazon Cash is a new program which allows us to add funds to an Amazon account in a retail store like CVS, Gamestop, Speedway, Sheetz, Family Fare and more. As part of the full rollout, Amazon has a special offer:

  • Get free $10 Amazon credit toward a future purchase when you add $20 to your Amazon account in-store using the Amazon Cash program

Simply get your Amazon Cash bar code (have it open on your phone or take a picture of it or a print out of it), have the store scan it using their scanner, enter the amount you want to add (e.g. $20) and pay as you normally would.

After you add $20 or more to your Amazon Balance using Amazon Cash, you will receive an email confirming that the $10 credit has been added to your Amazon account.

The Fine Print

  • Amazon Cash transaction must occur before 11:59 pm (PT) on July 31, 2017.
  • Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com (look for “sold by Amazon.com” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
  • Shipping charges and taxes may apply to the full value of discounted and free promotional items.
  • Offer limited to one per customer and account.
  • You will receive an e-mail from Amazon that indicates the dollar amount of the promotional credit and that the dollar amount of the credit has been added to your customer account.
  • Promotional credit expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) August, 31, 2017.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your order.
  • Unless an Amazon Gift Card is the stated benefit of the promotion, promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.

Our Verdict

This offer is WAY better than the previous deal to get $10 in digital credit with a $50 load. This time, the $10 credit will be an ordinary Amazon promotional credit, not limited to digital items, and it just requires a $20 load. We will be adding this to our master post on ways to save money on Amazon.

Apparently, Amazon really wants us to try out Amazon Cash. And I’m more than happy to do so on my next CVS gift card run! You can even use credit card to load your Amazon Cash at CVS.

If you’re heading to CVS, keep in mind they are offering $10 off $10+ via curbside as well. Can’t be stacked but might as well maximize your visit.

    How at CVS?

  3. e-lois says:

does this work with self-checkout machines in-store?

    • Lantean says:

here at my CVS it does not work at self check-out… but i remember someone post they were able to use it.
i guess it depends on how the kiosk scanners are calibrated… who knows.

  4. Kwei says:

Just FYI the cvs locations exclude Target stores

  5. MarcoPolo says:

    Thanks DoC
Will combine this with “$10 Off $15 At CVS With Curbside” order deal and buy some BOGO items for few $ after coupons.
    3 birds 🙂

  6. Mike A says:

Also, you don’t necessarily need to pay with cash. CVS accepts credit card to load funds onto your Amazon account through “Amazon Cash”

    • James says:

Thanks for the tip! Wonder if Speedway is the same. I have access to both CVS and Speedway but only have cards with gas bonus.

  7. Justin says:

What type of VGCs/MCGCs does CVS sell?

  8. JP says:

So you just tell cashier that you want to load Amazon cash. They type in something and you show them barcode to scan. That’s it?

  9. 007 says:

Worked fine for me. Loaded at cvs with gebit card and instantly got email re $10 promotional credit.

  10. Lisa says:

Can we use cvs gift card to pay for Amazon Cash at CVS? Thanks.

  11. Occy says:

    Codes as drugstore purchase?

  12. GregordianKnot says:

I just did this at Kwik Trip. Works great, credit was made available instantly on my Amazon account.

The cashier just has to scan the barcode on the phone.

  13. Tim says:

If you can use CC at CVS to load amazon. How does the CC get coded? I’m looking at Freedom here for 5%… does it code to CVS?

    • GregordianKnot says:

My Kwik Trip transaction has not posted, but it pending codes as a Kwik Trip charge.

    • Chris says:

I did this at CVS this morning. Transaction is pending on Citi AA MasterCard but it shows coded as Drug Stores/Pharmacies.

    • Russ says:

Coding (MCC) is at the merchant (store) level. It doesn’t change based on the items you purchase. If your CVS codes as drugstore, then regardless of what products you buy there, the transaction will code as drugstore.

  14. stampman79 says:

Credit didn’t work at the CVS where I live. I hate when national chains don’t have consistent cash register programming. No incentive to use cash except for a deal like this. Back to Kroger where you can buy Amazon cards with credit and get fuelpoints.

  15. Tommy says:

Are there any restrictions on the promotional credit, or can it also be used to purchase 3rd party gift cards?

  16. Shaun says:

Looks like Amazon is offering 2% cash back on debit card / checking account reloads now, too.

  17. Billy says:

It doesn’t get any easier than this for free money. $10 for 2 minutes of effort. Bonus dollars posted more or less instantly.

  18. TimmyD says:

Just in case anyone gets confused like I did, you don’t see the $10 added to your gift card balance. Instead the $10 just comes off of a purchase.

  19. Eileen says:

The fine print says “Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com (look for “sold by Amazon.com” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.” Anyone know whether it will apply to an Amazon Warehouse purchase?

    • Eileen says:

Just in case anyone is wondering…just finished chatting with Amazon CS:

“It would not, amazon warehouse deals is a third party seller as well.
It would have to be shipped and sold from Amazon. “

  20. Kevin says:

DP: I just loaded $20 with a VGC (Meta Bank) at a CVS in the financial district of San Francisco. An email notifying the load came into my inbox right after the transaction. Another email of the extra $10 promotion also came in seconds later. Easy $10 bucks.
